Position Summary

Duty Station: Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Classification: Internship

Type of Appointment: Internship Contract, 5 months

Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Context: 

Working under the direct supervision of the National Project Officer, Labour Mobility and Livelihoods Recovery Unit, the intern will support the implementation of projects related to labour mobility, and livelihoods recovery. The internship aims to provide practical exposure to project implementation and operational processes within IOM Cambodia and its field offices.

The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old. The Internship Programme is open to candidates of any nationality.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and organising project activities (training, workshop, policy consultations and other project related activities) with relevant IOM’s units, field offices, CSOs, and government partners in Cambodia;
  • Support the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of project activities in accordance with project unit’s workplan;
  • Assist in preparing administrative and technical documentation, correspondence, minutes, and translation of technical documents (Khmer to English and vice versa);
  • In coordination with resource management unit, assist with financial and logistic-related tasks, including verifying and processing supporting documents, expenditure tracking, and maintaining project records in compliance with IOM procedures;
  • Participate and take notes in internal and external meetings, workshops, and other project activities;
  • Assist in organising field missions, and monitoring visits to project target provinces when necessary;
  • Contribute to knowledge management, documentation of lessons learned, and preparation of communication and visibility materials of the unit;
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor. 
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • English - Fluent is required
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Degree in final academic year
  • Bachelor's Degree in International Relations, Political Science, Humanitarian Affairs, Economic Development or any other relevant disciplines from an accredited institution
Work History:
  • Working experience for 2 years as a minimum
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Having academic interest in labour migration, livelihoods recovery, community development, or humanitarian and development programmes.
  • should have less than two years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience in providing support in organizing training, workshops, meetings, or stakeholder consultations, including coordination with diverse stakeholders;
  • Experience in preparing reports, maintaining project documentation, and supporting administrative, logistical, and financial processes is an asset.
