Salary: Base Salary - Subject to qualifications and experience
This position in the Executive Team, oversees all fundraising efforts and activities, focusing on sustainable growth opportunities within the Philanthropic, Government, Corporate, Family foundations and the Community sector. This position works to clearly defined KPI’s including set revenue targets.

Overview:
The Strategic Engagement Team is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic plan through resource mobilisation and delegation processes. The Strategic Engagement Team oversees all the operations of This Life while ensuring all government and donor requirements are met. The Team liaises between the organisation and its board of directors and ensures they are informed on the progress and achievements of This Life's strategic plan. The Strategic Engagement Team is responsible for donor communications and relationship management strategies. It maintains the organisational funding pipeline that ensures adequate funding and resources for executing the strategic plan.
Position Role & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Strategic Engagements is responsible for leading and managing all fundraising efforts and activities, focusing on sustainable growth opportunities within the Philanthropy, Government, Corporate sector, Family foundations and Community. This position works to clearly defined KPIs including and delivering on the set revenue targets.
The Director of Strategic Engagement is responsible for leading and managing the following:
- Strategic Partnerships
- Business Development
- Fundraising, and
- Communications
- Lead the annual fundraising planning process and produce effective strategies to achieve income targets across the range of revenue streams.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, lead the development of a partnership strategy to increase the reach and impact of This Life’s ongoing efforts in advancing the organisation focus areas to achieve agreed long term organisational goals.
- Identify new potential income streams and produce strategies to access these funds and oversee the management of ongoing relationships with existing partners and, where relevant, leverage those relationships to more significant collective impact.
- Oversee the management of the grant, trust and individual donor income program, support the Partnerships, Business Development and Fundraising team to ensure quality communications and clear processes and structures are developed to track and maintain new and existing funding partnerships through our CRM (Salesforce) system.
- Promote This Life’s program initiatives to new, existing and lapsed audiences and partners to develop and retain donor relationships.
- Provide the Executive Director timely and accurate reporting of funding pipeline and future fundraising strategies, availability of funds and the viability of obtaining funds to support campaign initiatives.
- Research trends, competition and funding sources - to strategically drive This Life’s Strategic goal achievement in one to five years.
- Oversee the development and implementation of This Life’s communications plan.
- Create an integrated online/offline marketing strategy to engage This Life grantees and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the This Life program teams, to ensure resources, such as research papers, videos, podcasts, social media campaigns, and e-newsletters, follow best marketing practices.
- Manage a multi-layered review and editing process for This Life deliverables.
- Proofread materials to ensure they are free from error, post-ready, and adhere to brand style guides.
- Maintain an awareness of the organisation's risk through preventing and mitigating the impact of events if and when they occur.
- Minimum five years’ experience in a similar role at the management level in a comparable national/international organisation.
- Excellent team management, which involves inspiring and growing team members to achieve the section KPIs.
- Experience in utilising the strength of an organisation brand for charity/business development.
- Proven track record of meeting challenging income targets.
- Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder, client and donor relationships.
- Experience in developing and implementing strategic and business plans.
- Proven track record in fundraising that has directly resulted in increased income for an organisation.
- Exceptionally convincing and persuasive written and oral skills with the ability to present and convey complex ideas and issues clearly and coherently.
- Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously, take initiative and make decisions.

- Creative thinker with excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for introducing new ideas.
- Desirable:
- Savvy with digital marketing practices, including social media.
- Previous experience with Salesforce or other CRM databases is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
