Krom Akphiwat Phum KAWP or Krom (KAWP) is a Cambodian Association, born from the Oversea Service Bureau Australia (OSB) since late 1995, and has been operating in Battambang Province ever since.

KAWP received funding from Bread for the World (BfdW) to implement the program titled “Sustainable Community Empowerment – II” which is a continuation from the last phase program for the period of 2020-2022.

This program works in 50 villages 15 communes, 8 districts and 1 municipality, with a total of 15,228 households and 72,293 people in Battambang province to be the target areas for social and economic development. The development process of Krom Akphiwat Phum covers all community people in the target areas, and they are divided into two groups, direct beneficiaries cover 3,300 people (60%=1,980 women, 1,320 men) and indirect beneficiaries are 29,420 people (60%= 24,952 women, 14,468. Besides, KAWP also directly works and cooperates with 174 local authorities (30%=52 female representatives). The local authorities include village leaders, representatives of Commune Councils, Commune Police, and District Office of Agriculture and teachers and School directors.

The overall goal of the three-year program is that the living conditions of poor households in the province of Battambang have improved. To achieve the goal and three objectives of the program have been formulated as follows:

  1. Community-based organization and Agriculture Cooperative (CBOs/ACs) members who have farming land less than 1 hectare and landless households have increased their income.
  2. Poor families of CBOs/ACs members are enabled to access to improved public services (Health, Education, CC services.)
  3. The exchange between generation on social issues in the communities is strengthened.
