International Volunteer of Yamagata (IVY), a Japanese NGO, started working in Cambodia in 1993 and has implemented numerous agriculture and community development projects. It is mostly known for establishing Svay Rieng Agro-Products Cooperative (SAC) and successfully linked vegetable producers to the market in Phnom Penh. Currently, IVY is implementing a 3 years project “Support to the smallholder farmers through contract farming of organic cashew nuts through Agriculture Cooperatives” which is funded by the Japanese Government. In the 1st year, the project successfully supported 259 cashew nuts producers from 5 AC (Agriculture Cooperatives) in Preah Vihear Province to be certified organic for EU and US standard. In the 2nd year, we are aiming more than 400 producers to be certified to supply more than 300 tonnes of organic cashew nuts to bring more incomes for the producers and promote sustainable agriculture.
