The HALO Trust is the world’s largest humanitarian mine action organization, working to rid the world of landmines and explosive remnants of war. Employing over 13,000 staff on the ground in 32 countries and territories helping millions of families return to their homes safely, but there is still much more to do.

The HALO Trust has been working in Cambodia since 1991 and currently employs over 1,200 staff to work on mine clearance and explosive ordnance disposal projects in the north and northwest of the country.

Workshop Manager (1 Position)

Position Summary

Location: Roving Location

Report to: Fleet Manager

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our main workshop in Siem Reap and three location workshops. The Workshop Manager will be responsible for managing a team of mechanics, ensuring the timely completion of maintenance and repair tasks, optimizing workshop efficiency, and maintaining a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical operations management, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service. The HALO Trust operates the following makes of vehicles:

  • Land Rover Defender
  • Toyota Land Cruiser 76 & 78
  • Mitsubishi Fuso Canter Trucks
  • Kamaz Trucks
Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Team Management:
  • Lead and manage a team of workshop mechanics, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
  • Assign tasks and prioritize workloads to ensure timely completion of maintenance and repair projects.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Workshop Operations:
  • Oversee all aspects of workshop operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management.
  • Ensure that all maintenance and repair tasks are completed according to quality standards and safety regulations.
  • Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs for workshop equipment and machinery.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure that all work meets or exceeds HALO Trust quality standards and expectations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and address any issues promptly.
  • Performance Analysis and Reporting:
  • Track and analyse workshop performance metrics, such as equipment uptime, repair turnaround time, and cost per repair.
  • Generate reports and provide insights to management on workshop performance, trends, and areas for improvement.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Qualifications:
  • Recognised education in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in workshop management or a similar technical leadership role.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and workshop management software.

Junior Database Officer Intern (1 Position)

Position Summary

Report to: Database Developer

Duration: 6 months

Role Summary

Junior Database Officer Intern works under the supervision of the Database Developer. The Junior Database Officer Intern provides key support for developing and maintaining information management tools to support the HALO Trust’s operations and reporting. Based at HALO HQ office in Siem Reap, but required to travel to our location offices in Anlong Veaeng, Kamrieng and Thma Da.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Design and implement front-end and back-end HALO systems, including the Global Information Management System (GO-IMS), HR, Medical, Technician, Fleet, and Logistics, to meet requirements.
  • Develop reports and queries as requested to meet both external and internal requirements.
  • Design and deliver training sessions for operational and support staff on system usage.
  • Perform quality assurance and control to ensure data accuracy.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure data consistency between the HALO internal database and IMSMA.
  • Other duties are reasonably requested/assigned by the Head of IM
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Essential:
  • Degree or currently studying in computer science, information technology, or equivalent
  • professional qualifications
  • Existing experience of working in a similar position, and a relevant qualification
  • Experience of involve in developing and maintaining SQL databases
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Ability to perform under time pressure
  • Ability to build good personal working relationships

  • Be able to work as a team.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
  • Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases, with PostgreSQL as a plus
