Cooperation Committee for Cambodia (CCC) is the leading membership organization for local and foreign non-governmental organizations in Cambodia. By the end of 2024, CCC had 190 member organizations working in various development sectors. The CCC plays a key role in coordinating, monitoring, and mobilizing support to achieve its goal of strengthening civil society organizations by providing them with a conducive environment and democratic space. CCC has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 16 provincial NGO networks across Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, Pursat, Kratie, Banteay Meanchey, Kampot, Battambang, Stung Treng, Kampong Chhnang, Sihanoukville, and Koh Kong provinces.

The Youth Ambassadors will implement the strategic plan with CCC members and the provincial NGO network, with the expectation that the Youth Ambassadors will support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the sub-national level, together with NGOs, by sharing their expertise. CCC plays a key role in supporting civil society organizations, not limited to its members, to participate in the implementation of the SDGs and CSDGs, especially Goals 16 and 17, and in the process of preparing the Voluntary National Review (VNR) for Cambodia.

Position Summary

The Volunteer Youth Ambassadors Program for Sustainable Development Goals

The Volunteer Youth Ambassadors Program for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (hereinafter the "Program") is a joint initiative between Cooperation Committee for Cambodia (CCC) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) in 2019. The Program is a platform of a dynamic team of volunteer ambassadors working together within the mandate of a one-year term to enhance youth voice and solidarity through volunteerism contributing to achieving the SDGs. The Ambassadors were offered opportunities through volunteerism to engage directly as well as indirectly for peace, sustainable development, and democracy.

The primary objective of the Volunteer Youth Ambassador Program for SDGs is to contribute to the empowerment of Cambodian youth by enabling them to use their potential to participate in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Cambodia. Young people will have the opportunity to participate in policy dialogue, participate in decision-making processes, and support the monitoring of progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals in Cambodia.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • The Youth Ambassadors will undertake five strategic activities to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs in Cambodia. The strategic activities include:
  • Lead the organization of cultural events on the Sustainable Development Goals and raise awareness through the organization of SDGs performances and other public outreach programs, especially among young people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Build and develop the capacity of young people through the integration of SDGs and CSDGs.
  • Promote inclusive partnerships with relevant stakeholders (government, private sector, civil society and UN agencies).
  • Reflect on progress and achievements, as well as challenges, in the implementation of the SDGs and CSDGs through public feedback and the Voluntary National Review (VNR) process.
  • Write a report on a priority SDG and produce at least two videos per person
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • To be eligible for the ambassador, applicants:
  • Aged between 18 and 25-year-olds.
  • Willing to work in society and contribute to sustainable social development through volunteering and extracurricular activities.
  • Must conduct research on the progress of the SDGs and CSDGs.
  • Ability to use social media.
  • Able to participate in local and international capacity development programs.
  • Able to work in a team and independently, with integrity, flexibility, and good communication skills.
  • Proficient in English (writing, speaking, reading, and listening).
  • Female candidates, youth with disabilities, gender non-identifying individuals, and youth from minority groups are encouraged to apply.
  • Be a 4th year student or fresh graduate.
  • Able to work 5 days a week (4 hours/day).
  • Must fully participate in various training courses provided by the CCC.
