NGO SAMAKY Organization, in partnership with Khmer Ocean Life—a UK-based non-profit—is seeking new team members to support the Kampot Dolphin Ecotours (KDE) project. A new visitor centre will soon open in Kampot Town, serving as a marine conservation hub where visitors can book tours and learn about Cambodia’s rich marine wildlife.

KDE works closely with local fishing communities and provides regular training to community members, including English language development, to build local capacity for sustainable ecotourism.

Visitor Centre Assistant

Position Circumstances

Position Summary

Start date: December 2025

Contract type: Full-time, permanent (1 year)

Working Hours:

  • Tuesday-Sunday 10am-7pm
  • (Some events may be in the evening, but hours can be taken off in lieu)

Person Description:

The ideal candidate will have experience in tourism, hospitality, or customer service, with a genuine passion for community work and wildlife conservation. They should be confident working both independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and organisational skills. The successful candidate will be friendly, enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to making a positive experience for all visitors to the centre.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Welcome guests and provide information on Kampot Dolphin Ecotours
  • Organising online and in-person ecotour bookings
  • Advertising and promoting Kampot Dolphin Ecotours
  • Contributing content for the website, external communications and social media
  • Assist in the organisation of events at the visitor centre
  • Sale of local products and merchandise
  • Conduct shop inventories and track sales
  • Uphold organisation values
  • Other responsibilities as identified
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • Khmer - Fluent
  • English - Fluent
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, or customer service
  • Computer literacy
  • Knowledge of marine science and conservation
  • Experience with event planning or community engagement
  • Familiarity with social media or marketing tools
Soft Skills
  • Fluency in both English and Khmer (spoken and written)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

English Teacher

Position Summary

Start date: December 2025

Contract type: part-time (one year)

Location: Trapaeng Ropov and Changhaun communities, Kampot, Cambodia

Working Hours: 2 hours per week

Salary and Benefits: USD 20 per week

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver practical, beginner-level English lessons tailored to the needs of fishing community members.
  • Create simple, culturally relevant teaching materials and activities.
  • Adapt teaching methods for learners with varying levels and learning styles.
  • Support learners in developing useful vocabulary for daily life, tourism interactions, and safety communication.
  • Monitor learner progress and provide feedback and encouragement.
  • Maintain basic attendance and learning records.
  • Coordinate with community leaders or partners to schedule classes and ensure accessibility for learners.
  • Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Adjust lesson plans based on learner feedback and community needs.
  • Carry out additional teaching-related tasks as appropriate.

Languages:

Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Ability to explain concepts clearly and simply for beginner learners.
  • Experience teaching English or facilitating community-based learning.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods for learners with varying literacy levels.

  • Fluency in Khmer.
  • Good communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
