Book Layout Designer
Purpose of the Assignment:
The program seeks a book layout designer to create visually appealing and reader-friendly layouts for its three publications. The designer will ensure the publication meets high-quality design standards, aligns with the program’s branding guidelines, and is suitable for both print and digital formats. Should the Program be satisfied with the designer’s work, there is a possibility of renewed annual contract with the designer.
Deliverables:
- Initial draft layout (cover design up to three options for selection and interior) for review.
- Revised draft based on feedback.
- Final print-ready files (PDF) and editable source files (e.g., Adobe InDesign).
- Digital version formatted for e-publication (if applicable).
Timeline:
- Submission of draft layout design template (cover and interior): Within 1 week after receiving work
- Submission of the full draft layout design with text: Within 2 weeks after design template approval
- Feedback and revisions period: 1 week after the initial full draft submission
- Final deliverables: 1 week after receiving feedback on the revised draft.

- Ensuring consistency in font styles, headings, spacing, and overall visual presentation.
- Formatting for Accessibility:
- Incorporating design elements that enhance readability and accessibility for diverse audiences.
- Preparing files for print and digital publication, ensuring accessibility compliance where required.
- Revisions and Feedback:
- Incorporating feedback from the program team during the review process.
- Making necessary revisions to ensure the final design aligns with expectations.
- Brand Alignment:
- Ensuring the design reflects the program’s branding and thematic guidelines.
- Qualifications:
- Proven experience in book layout design, with a strong portfolio of similar projects.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or equivalent tools.
- Familiarity with publishing standards for print and digital formats.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards in document design is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
