The Project Manager position reports into the Senior Project Manager and works closely with teams across the office in the delivery of projects.
Job specific responsibilities and accountabilities
The Project Manager will lead on the Klahan9SPACE project implementation, primarily a project focused on stimulating participation and civic engagement among young people in the 18-35years age group and creating an enabling environment for them. S/he will monitor progress towards project deliverables and work with colleagues in other teams to ensure that activities are delivered on time, on budget and to a high quality.
- Oversee delivery of assigned project activities, ensuring that deliverables are on track, on time and of a high quality.
- Operate (and, where required, design new) tools and systems to organise projects efficiently and effectively, with a focus of ensuring project deliverables are on track, on time and to the required quality.
- Act as a hub for interface between internal teams, maintaining good working relationships with key internal colleagues and establishing and operating robust working arrangements for planning, maintaining and reviewing project delivery.
- Work with finance colleagues to manage project budgets, exercising a degree of judgment to ensure that financial targets are met.
- Write, compile and edit monthly, quarterly and annual reports and other documents needed to meet the deliverable and reporting commitments for donors and partners.
- Contribute to business development activity, including undertaking research and drafting sections of funding proposals to donors and designing new projects.
- Maintain external relationships with project partners, donors and other stakeholders, representing the work of BBC Media Action Cambodia to the highest professional standards.
- Line manage project staff as required.
- Work with Senior Project Manager to ensure the security, health and safety of staff and contractors, and ensure compliance with all BBC safety policies and other relevant legal requirements.
- Support the documentation and dissemination of learnings from the project.
- Understand and comply with the Safeguarding policy and the staff Code of Conduct.
- Essential
- Strong experience of project management, with a demonstrable ability to effectively plan, monitor and provide progress reporting.
- Good knowledge of project management processes & techniques.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly including Microsoft Excel.
- Highly numerate, with the ability to track budget allocations and provide accurate financial reports.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven track record in forming effective relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders.
- Excellent English and Khmer spoken and written communication skills, including experience writing project briefs, reports, terms of reference and other project documents.
- Good organisational and time management skills, with the proven ability to prioritise across multiple tasks, work independently and maintain attention to detail.
- Experience working in a development or related setting with associated experience of development project design and donor reporting.
- Right to work in Cambodia.
- Desirable
- Strong background in governance, civic engagement, youth community participation related themes, youth-oriented issues and/or working with youth in Cambodia.
- Experience of business development in an international development setting.
- Well-developed understanding of communications for development
- Strong networks with organisations (civil society, government and other stakeholders) working with young people on youth community participation related themes.Savvy in using social media.
