Partners for Rural Development (PRD) is a non-profit rural development organization dedicated to improving livelihoods and quality of life of rural communities through initiatives in education, environment, agriculture, gender empowerment and health.

PRD received funding from Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) to implement a research project called “Next generation agricultural extension: social relations for practice change”. The project aims to produce an innovative model of agricultural extension founded on expanding enabling social relations, which will complement and/or replace existing models of extension that are based on the provision of technology, capital, and information.

PRD is looking for seven qualified national candidates to fill the position listed below.

Research Project Officer (7 Positions)

Position Summary

Under the overall administrative guidance of PRD and technical leadership of the In Country Project Coordinator and relevant management team members, the Project Researcher Officer will:

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Participate in the design and implementation of research plans and activities, such as farmer interviews, focus group discussions, regular crop growth monitoring, village meetings and workshops, and other community livelihood activities.
  • Support in data cleaning, pre-processing, and analysis
  • Provide regular updates on project implementation activities and progress (i.e., weekly, monthly).
  • Assist and collaborate with the project team and partners in documenting important lessons learned, as well as identifying and showcasing project achievements.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss project updates and activity planning.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with community participants, local authorities, and other partners.
  • Performs other tasks as requested by the supervisor.
  • Willing to travel and stay at target sites
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Rural Development/Agriculture/Social Science/Statistics/ or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience engaging and carrying out agricultural and social research activities (i.e., farmer interviews, focus group discussions, field crop surveys, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of and experience working with rural Cambodian farming communities
  • Interviewing experience using a digital tool (i.e., CommCare) is a plus.
  • Computer literacy (i.e., Microsoft Office)
  • Good written and spoken English skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently, with responsibility, commitment, and ambition to contribute to agricultural research and extension in Cambodia
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
