The role of the CAD Operator/Surveyor is to assist the Irrigation Engineering Team in the preparation of AutoCAD drawings and topographical surveys and assist the Design Engineer to collect data to inform the design of irrigation schemes and associated structures.

Duties
  • Prepare construction/tender drawings for construction contracts
  • Prepare and amend civil construction drawings such as layout plan, plan view, cross sections, longitudinal profile, and construction details
  • Estimate quantities of construction material, i.e., earthworks and structural works
  • Conduct topographic surveys including ground data collection, level verification of canals and structures compared to design level
  • Formulate and calculate the field data as required
  • Record and compile data from field works
  • Other tasks as required by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent. A postgraduate qualification is desirable.
  • At least three years of professional experience in detailed design/construction of irrigation or civil works
  • Advanced experience in AutoCAD, Civil 3 D and MS Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to use topographical survey instruments (Auto level, Total station, DGPS or hand-held GPS)
  • Experience in topographic survey in the field of construction of irrigation or civil works
  • Proven ability to work in teams.
