AMARA is a local NGO, is working to promote educational opportunity to Cambodian communities, local authorities, and line departments of Government at Sub-National level for the effectiveness of Good Governance, Democracy, Social Accountability, Leadership and Gender. AMARA is mainly challenging gender discrimination to ensure women participate and have power in civil and political life.

Executive Director

Duties
  • Oversight leadership and management to ensure a sustainable organization.
  • Overall direction/vision to all staff
  • Resource mobilization and fundraising to secure funding support for AMARA including the submission of new and continuation grant proposals to donor groups and organizations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with donors, government, NGOs, INGOs and other partners.
  • Serves as leading spokesperson for AMARA and advocates within the community on behalf of women.
  • In collaboration with the Advisory Board and AMARA staff to develop and monitors Bylaw, Policies and Strategic Plan and evaluates their effectiveness and proposes modifications.
  • Controls AMARA budget management system and checks all property and expenditures to assure compliance with requirements.
  • Reviews activity reports and financial reports on a timely basis and submits required reports to donors and to the Advisory Board on the progress of program activities and the use of funds.
  • Facilitates individual and group training that furthers the work of AMARA staff members.
  • Attends seminars and conferences, networks with other INGOs, NGOs and Government departments and agencies to lobby for laws, policies and programs that will diminish the level of violence against women and protect their human rights.
Requirements
  • Cambodian national
  • Master’s Degree in related fields
  • Interest and high commitment to work with persons with women
  • Ability to write grant proposal
  • Ability to write clear project reports with specific outputs, outcomes and impacts.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstration of strong management and leadership skills
  • Demonstration of advocacy skills including lobbying, media relations and speech-making
  • Good oral and written communication skills in Khmer and English
  • Skills in program planning, monitoring and evaluation and the analysis and use of data
  • Skills in seeking and receiving funds from donor organizations and groups including the preparation of grant proposals.
