The Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM) is a non-government organization promoting and defending media freedom and independent media through media reporting and media development activities. For its media development activities, CCIM is engaged in organizing journalism trainings for journalists and citizen journalists, organizing media and information literacy training in the schools and communities, and undertake activities to promote and defend media freedom and independent media. CCIM is seeking for a dynamic, professional, and qualified Cambodians for the following positions.

Announcement Positions

Chief Reporter/Sub Editor

Report to: News Editor

Job Summary: The Chief Reporter/Sub Editor is responsible for coordinating reporters and produce news for daily broadcasting.

Duties
  • Coordinate dialy editorial meeting
  • Follow up with reporters on the progress of their work
  • Assist in editing news articles
  • Write news for daily broadcasting, features and news analysis
  • Work as the master of ceremony (MC) for evening broadcasting once per week
  • Other tasks assigned by editor/editor-in-chief
Requirements
  • Cambodian national. Women are encouraged to apply.
  • Degree in the media, journalism or other relevant fields
  • At least three years’ experiences as senior reporter or editor
  • Experience in using Adobe Audition
  • Able to work flexible hours and travel to provinces
  • Good team player
  • Solid writing and editing skills
  • Ability to provide training to various personnel
  • Proficient English speaker and capable of listening, writing and reading in English
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Capable of using social media networks, internet and email
  • Competent at typing Khmer Unicode and using Microsoft office
  • Good communication skills and relations with other journalists
  • Wider understanding of social issues
  • Capable of creative, critical thinking and speaking
  • Able to work overtime, on roster, on holiday or on weekend, and travel to the provinces when required
  • Ability to write investigative reports and news analysis

Senior News Reporter

Report to: Sub Editor/ Editor

Job Summary: The Senior News Reporter is responsible for producing daily news, feature reports, interview and investigative reports for VOD/CCIM.

Duties
  • Attend daily editorial meeting by bringing news worthy story ideas to share with team
  • Produce breaking news, feature story, news analysis with the agreement from editor
  • Work as the master of ceremony (MC) for evening broadcasting at least once per week
  • Other tasks assigned by sub editor/editor
Requirements
  • Cambodian national. Women are encouraged to apply.
  • Degree in Journalism, media or other related field
  • At least last 3 experiences in the position of news reporter
  • Proven skills or experiences in producing breaking news, straight news, feature, and news analysis is a plus
  • Good interpersonal and written communications skills
  • Good computer literacy in MS Office programs, Khmer Unicode and Adobe Audition
  • Proficient in speaking, reading and writing in English
  • Effective use of social media networks, internet and email for research and investigation
  • Wide understanding of social issues and capable of critical thinking and discussion
  • Able to work overtime, on holiday or on weekend, and to travel to the provinces as required

Training Officer

Report to: Training Coordinator

Job Summary: The Training Officer is responsible in assisting the Training Coordinator in preparing training materials, facilitating training activities, and providing logistic support to the training activities of the projects.

Duties
  • Assist in the implementation of media training activities of the different projects.
  • Assist the Training Coordinator in preparing training materials for training in different projects.
  • Assist in the delivery of the trainings such as facilitation and providing logistics support during the training.
  • Coordinate with officers and staff of projects which the training activities are part of the said projects.
  • Ensure that training activities are documented and training materials used are recorded and filed.
  • Assists in the delivery of journalism training courses in accordance to the project agreement and agreed plans
  • Assist the Training Coordinator in preparing training curriculums and materials of the journalism training courses.
  • Work with the Training Coordinator in the preparation of the training courses such as invitation and processing of applicants, preparing venue for trainings, facilitating accommodations of training participants, and preparation of logistics.
  • Ensure proper documentation of the training courses, safekeeping of training materials used.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Training Coordinator related to the training.
  • Other duties
  • Perform other tasks as maybe required by the direct supervisor or Management Committee upon consultation
Requirements
  • Cambodian national. Women are encouraged to apply.
  • University degree in journalism courses, or relevant training in journalism and media. Master’s degree is an advantage;
  • At least, 2 years of experience in developing training materials and delivering training to different groups;
  • Good computer literacy and working knowledge on Microsoft software, media production related applications such as graphics, audio and video production.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills and ability to manage sensitive issues with various stakeholders while motivating others;
  • Excellent spoken and written Khmer and English skills;
  • Sound understanding of Cambodian context in terms of media independency as well as rights to freedom of expression and access to information;
  • Sound understanding of gender and willingness to promote gender equality and women empowerment both within CCIM and through its projects;
  • A passionate and energetic team member with a genuine interest in working to develop independent and professional media, promote human rights and democratic governance;
  • Good computer literacy and working knowledge on Microsoft Office, internet-based communications, other related digital applications.
