This project is a collaboration between the Biology Department, Faculty of Science, Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), Fauna & Flora International, Cambodia Program (FFI) and Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS). The department runs the Conservation Genetic Laboratory, operated with technical support from RZSS, undertaking genetic analysis of ivory products and provide information on the origin of ivory. The Biology Department of the Royal University of Phnom Penh seeks to hire a Cambodian national in a part-time position as below.
Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Biology Department, Faculty of Science, Royal University of Phnom Penh
Main Duties: Under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager of the Biology Department, FFI Manager and Researchers from RZSS’s WildGenes Conservation Genetics laboratory based in the UK, assist with the development and implementation of conservation genetic analysis within the laboratory at RUPP. Be responsible for maintenance of the laboratory and its equipment to a high standard. Be responsible for the testing and development of molecular genetic protocols involving the extraction of DNA, PCR amplification and sequencing. Down-stream analysis of genetic results with support of RZSS WildGenes. Independent learning and development of personal understanding of Conservation Genetics. Presentation of results and attendance at external meetings as required.
