Insufficient language skills limit the capacity of people to access, harness and leverage information in a technology-driven world, profoundly impacting employment prospects and overall socio-economic development.

40K Plus addresses this lack of access to quality English language education in low-resource environments, where significant physical, socio-cultural and economic barriers to education exist.

We have developed a non-internet reliant, technology-driven program that enables first-generation English learners to build CEFR A2 level competencies in listening, speaking, reading and writing English. We have validated this program in India and Cambodia and are now on an exciting growth trajectory.

Sales Manager – Business Development & Strategy

The Role

You will work directly with the CEO (based in India) and be the driving force for expanding 40K Plus’s reach in Cambodia by gaining insights into market trends, building a business development roadmap for the organization as well as identifying and opening new leads and market opportunities.

This would mean that you

  • are passionate to join a business that has made a solid start, and actively want to see it grow and succeed;
  • believe in a data-driven, targeted approach to business development;
  • have experience working in the EdTech or education market;
  • have contacts and a network within the EdTech industry in Cambodia;
  • have excellent business development, communication and presentation skills;
  • enjoy talking to potential clients, understand their needs and do what it takes to find product-market fit.

The role is open to locals and expat candidates, but we will only consider expats with a working knowledge of Khmer and who are willing to live and work in Kampong Cham.

Duties
  • Business Strategy and Analysis
  • Conduct both primary and secondary market research including analysing the structure of current and potential markets, consumer behaviour and competitor offers.
  • Build a business development strategy in conjunction with the senior management to increase revenue and market share, that includes customer segments to target, areas, and product/service offering.
  • Support the decision-making process of the senior management with relevant and real-time data insights
  • Business Development and Relationship Management
  • Build and foster deep relationships with prospective clients within the community, school, government system.
  • Work with the program management team to create effective business development collateral.
  • Build and drive the business development pipeline, including setting and managing conversion
  • ratio targets.
  • Work with the sales executive to coordinate, negotiate and close sales.
  • Ensure key accounts achieve a high social profit; delivering both financial profit and positive social impact.
  • Business Communication and Networking
  • Manage all business communication, including presentations, marketing collateral and reports. Prepare presentations as per the needs of the senior management and/or board on the business
  • Development strategy, business insights and roadmap for growth.
  • Build strong relationships with other organizations in the education and social impact space in Cambodia; build a plan to explore opportunities for collaboration.
  • Attend conferences and networking events to create visibility for the organization within the EdTech community.
Requirements
  • Post-graduate degree from a reputed institution (under-graduate degree with sufficient experience in the relevant field would also be accepted)
  • 5+ years experience in Business Development and Business strategy, with at least 2-3 years in the EdTech industry.
  • Strong analytical and observation skills, with a high level of comfort in analytical tools.
  • Experience or exposure to working with stakeholders in government agencies and/or social impact organizations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Khmer.
