USAID Conserve is a five-year activity funded by USAID and implemented by Branch of ARD in Cambodia. USAID Conserve will improve conservation and governance along the coastal areas of Koh Kong and Kampong Som (Preah Sihanoukville) provinces, the Prey Lang Extended Landscape (PLEL), which includes Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom, Kratie, and Stung Treng provinces, and around Tonle Sap’s flooded forest areas.

USAID Conserve will address drivers of deforestation and biodiversity loss and improve conservation area management. The project will emphasize increasing community participation in forest management decisions while improving community-based economic development. USAID Conserve will provide capacity building to community members. Collaboration with national and subnational officials will cut across all USAID Conserve elements and objectives. These efforts will mitigate the impacts climate change, improve the economic well-being of project beneficiaries, and safeguard biodiversity.

USAID Conserve will work closely with Royal Government of Cambodia, international non-governmental organizations (NGO), Cambodian NGOs, the private sector, and community-based organizations. USAID Conserve began in October 2023 and will conclude in September 2028.

Location: Preah Vihear, Srae Ambel (Koh Kong) with travel to Cambodian provinces

JOB SUMMARY:

USAID Conserve drivers are responsible for maintaining and driving project vehicles in accordance with USAID Conserve policies and procedures. Drivers will travel frequently to USAID Conserve target provinces which include Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom, Kratie, Stung Treng, Koh Kong, Kampong Som, Kampong Chhang, Pursat, Battambang, and Siem Reap. Drivers are responsible for ensuring that USAID Conserve vehicles are always maintained and are road ready. Drivers will also be asked to support logistics-related tasks as needed.

DUTY STATION:

One driver will be based in Preah Vihear provincial town. One driver will be based in Srae Ambel (Koh Kong).

All drivers will travel frequently to USAID Conserve target provinces.

Duties
  • Drive vehicle for Project staff to go to work in the project target provinces, districts communities, and other locations.
  • Ensure the provision of reliable and safe driving services by driving office vehicles for the transportation of Project staff and visitors.
  • Support in delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items.
  • Ensure the proper day to day maintenance of the assigned vehicles through timely minor repairs, arrangement for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of the quality of tires, brakes and water levels, regular car washing, etc so that the vehicle is kept clean and in good running condition at all times.
  • Well manage the logbook for tracking distances and reporting to direct report.
  • Drive with respect of traffic laws and respect the allowed speed directed by project management team.
  • Properly use the safety car belt and induct all staff to use it to ensure safety along the way.
  • Inform the managers of any irregular occurrence to the project vehicles and suggest the necessary steps.
  • Ensure the availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, first aid kits, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicles.
  • Assist in logistic work process as necessary.
Requirements
  • Must have a valid Cambodia driving license.
  • Minimum of three years driving experience with safe driving record.
  • Skill in minor vehicle repair
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, and the local roads and conditions.
  • Trust worthies and transparency
  • Basic communication English skill is in advantage.
  • Occasionally requires working long hours and weekends as needed.
