Working Hours: 8am – 12pm, 2pm – 5pm Monday to Friday

Position overview

The English-Khmer Translator’s key responsibility is to provide a quality service to the community at Epic Arts and to support and facilitate communication access for English and Khmer users. This service is provided for verbal communication during activities such as workshops, meetings and events and for the translation of written documents such as job descriptions, reports and meeting minutes.

The successful candidates will be expected to comply with Epic Arts Child Protection Policy.

Duties
  • Interpret on the local, national and international stage for Epic Encounters Performance teams as required.
  • Assist in the class supervision of Inclusive Arts Course students and with problem solving
  • Interpret for staff and students in meetings, workshops, training and interviews.
  • Make sure all staff/students have accessible information in their daily work and effective communication in their work place.
  • Prepare and teach English lessons as required
  • Work closely with Operations Manager to ensure all staff understand Epic Arts Internal staff policies and procedures.
  • Translate documents such as job descriptions, reports, meeting minutes, contracts, warning letters and notices
  • Maintain positive relationships with staff, students, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain on-going learning and improvement in interpreting/translating skills.
  • Telephone interpreting when requested.
  • Provide reports to manager as required.
  • Interpret for staff at Epic Arts Café as needed.
Requirements
  • Excellent command of English and Khmer languages, oral and written
  • 2 years translating experience
  • Well-organized
  • Excellent team player and self-motivated
  • Good knowledge of computer technologies
  • Good time management and interpersonal skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
