Bayon Education & Development NGO, usually called “Bayon School” in English or “Ecole du Bayon” in French”, is a local NGO that has been registered with the Ministry of Interior (MOI) of Cambodia in March 25, 2015, which is under fully financial supporting from Ecole du Bayon NGO in France.

Bayon Education & Development NGO is a qualified education development organization with programs focused on two main areas:

  • A Khmer General Education for the poorest Children.
  • A Technical Vocational Education & Training for a young people from the disadvantaged family of Cambodia.

Bayon Education & Development NGO operates its several programs in Cambodia which head office is located at Taphul road, Sangkat Svay Dangkun, Krong Siem Reap, Siem Reap province, Kingdom of Cambodia. Presently, Bayon School is working for four important programs as follow:

  • Primary school program: provide free education for children from kindergarten to grade 6.
  • Follow-up program for lower and upper secondary school students.
  • Pastry school program: we provide vocational training (TVET) in pastry and bakery skills for around 25 underprivileged women every year.
  • Green farming program: Its objective is to involve families of students of the primary school to grow organic vegetables on their land and family income generation.
  • Agroecology school is a new project inside of the green farming program designed to provide free vocational training in agroecology skills for youth people from disadvantaged families about 10 to 25 trainees a year.

Main Job Duties

The overall responsibility of the Pastry & Bakery School Program Director is to manage the school in its professional vocational training mission towards unprivileged woman in the field of Bakery & Pastry skills.

The specific duties that he/she will handover are ensuring qualification of its vocational training program compliance CQF, manage school day-to-day operation, prepare annual school budget and budget control, manage the pastry lab and its production including stock control, responsibility for ensuring annual sales goal production, responsibility for achieving annual sales goal, staff supervision, and other administration works for the school.

He/she will manage the pastry & bakery school staff and under the direct management of the Deputy Executive Director of the Bayon Education & Development (BED).


Duties
  • Oversee and coordinate the school professional vocational training program in bakery & pastry including coffee shop skills (35%)
  • Ensure the implementation of school professional vocational training with high qualifications and in accordance with its curriculums (10%)
  • A school's professional vocational training coordination: In accordance with existing professional vocational training curriculums, stay straightforward to break down curriculum components into teaching operations and carry out teaching plans and lesson plans to achieve the yearly curriculums, and develop the vocational training curriculum in adherence to the CQF guideline and Asian curriculum.
  • Ensure all lessons from each course or subject have been made by instructor or teacher and lead to continue development of the curriculum for deliver a highest skill for students.
  • Analysis the school needs, and then propose to build a better teaching pedagogical for the best teaching practice of the school.
  • Follow-up and analysis the teaching achievement and schedule adjustment if needed by consult with upper line director to adopt with the real situation and make sure all students can pass all credits lesson.
  • Report monthly school progress for upper line director such as school activity, result of teaching plan, student’s attendance, result of student’s examination, etc.
  • Class observation to make sure the teacher or instructor follows or implement a proper pedagogical aspect.
  • Manage to understand clearly of need of students in order to develop student’s competencies and their behaviours direction.
  • Together with teacher and social staff conducted the regularly student’s behaviours evaluation.
  • Manage and responsibility for the school day-to-day operations with limited help from upper line director (25%)
  • Overseeing the day-to-day school operation to make sure all functions are running smoothly as well as support the operation staff such as provide any useful operation tools and provide a clear direction for the staff.
  • In support and help from the upper director, develop and improve the standard of operation (SOP) for school aimed to have a better implementation of the school in a professional manner.
  • Prepare annual school calendar to get approval from upper director as well as manage it in efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate to the student selection of each intake that will be leaded by the social team.
  • As a member of the internal TVET school committee, take a lead in developing the network's partnership to ensuring the success of the student’s internship and job placement for graduates, especially for Bayon Pastry & Bakery School.
  • Together with social staff, leading and organizing the graduation ceremony for each intake including preparation of internal certificate for the students.
  • In cooperation with social team, make survey and analysis for career pass for the pastry alumni in order to improve the school vocational training curriculum that can help students to improve their future professional.
  • As the school is a member of ASSET H&C, coordinate and respond to their requirement on time as well as delegate the tasks to the next person who is under their responsibilities.
  • Other daily operational functions that will be required by upper line director.
  • Participate and assist upper director in preparing of an annual school budget and budget control (10%)
  • Prepare the school's annual budget with the support of superiors and technical assistance from the financial team.
  • Manage, analyse, and implement the approved annual budget of the school effectively and learn from it in order to improve for the next budget preparation.
  • Control and manage purchases and ensure high efficiency in financial expenditure compliance with procurement procedure and no fraud.
  • Manage the pastry & bakery lab production (20%)
  • Manage and support the pastry & bakery productions that produce by the pastry & bakery team including production result control and use of ingredients (15%)
  • Ensure well work communication between sales team and pastry & bakery production team in order to support annual sales goals production that will be ordered by the sales and coffee shop team based on their basic planning.
  • Production planning: In cooperation with sales and coffee shop team, analysis and create the production strategy to improve pastry & bakery production (Made to Order (MTO) and Make to Stock (MTS)), as well as create system to control final production.
  • Establish tracking system or tool to control and follow-up the production result that will be produced by production team.
  • Control the efficiency use of ingredients for both for teaching and commercial activities.
  • Ensuring an implement of hygiene norms and processes inside both Pastry & Bakery labs.
  • Stock management and control (5%)
  • Ensure efficiency and effectiveness of using ingredients.
  • Create ingredient stock control system with help from upper line director.
  • Ensure well implementation of ingredient stock management in pastry & bakery labs for example any purchase or use of ingredients must have a proper tracking system.
  • Estimate the needs of monthly ingredients for pastry & bakery labs and take order it by compliance with purchasing procedure.
  • Responsibility for achieving annual sales goal approval by management & boards including direct supervisor of the Coffee shop and sales development (15%)
  • Prepare and develop the sales strategy planning, including prepare annual sales goals and sales activity planning together with the sales and partnership manager and upper line director in order to promote to achieve the annual sales goals.
  • At least 95% of annual sales goals are achieved.
  • Supervisor all sales channels and make sure all sales channel functions are running smoothly. In case there is any sales channel are struggling not working well, look into the details and improve it as soon as possible.
  • Improve customer service in coffee shop and ensuring customer’s satisfaction for both indoor and outdoor sales adventures.
  • Contribute to any sales events that will be implemented by sales and partnership manager.
  • Proposal for sales development initiative (5%)
  • Inspirit to propose for upper line management for an initiative of the coffee shop and sales development for ensuring the achievement of the annual sales goals.
  • Staff supervision (10%)
  • Ensuring high work performance of the staff under supervision, including tasks delegation, direction, and control staff workloads (5%)
  • Manage pastry & bakery school staff including tasks delegation and assignment, direction and follow-up staff workloads.
  • Create and improve all program staff job descriptions and job specifications
  • Role as strong leadership and inspirit the powerful of the teamwork.
  • Staff evaluation and development (5%)
  • Conduct an annual staff work performance evaluation and judge fairness among of team members.
  • Staff capacity development and provide internal training for team members.
  • Administration work for the school (5%)
  • Control all staff purchasing activities for the school program such as school operation expenses, pastry staff uniform, student’s uniform, etc.
  • Review purchasing contract for making a good price for pastry and bakery ingredients.
  • Participate to the preparation of quarterly and monthly government reports
  • In cooperate with finance and admin team in order to obtain official certificate from the ministry of labour and vocational training of Cambodia.
  • School maintenance including environmental development surrounding the school, repairing and renovation, maintenance electricity generator and water system, etc.
  • Any administration works of the school.
Requirements
  • Education:
  • At least Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Education Management, or equivalent certificates. Master degrees is more advantages.
  • Fluent in English communication and academic writing skills
  • High level of awareness or knowledge of food sector, especially pastry and bakery skills. Able to making pastry and bakery cake is more advantages.
  • High knowledge in professional vocational training program that compliance with CQF and Asian curriculums.
  • Able to carry out and development the vocational training curriculums in professional manner for better delivery high quality of vocational training for disadvantaged young woman.
  • Attended some relevance short-course training skills in western food industry.
  • Professional of computer skills (especially professional of using Ms. Office, email & internet, etc)
  • High sound knowledge of budget preparation and management.
  • High sound knowledge of procurement and stock management skills.
  • Spreadsheet analysis is more advantages
  • Experiences:
  • At least 4 to 5 years of experience working as a management level in NGOs, hospitality business, and similar sector or companies.
  • Experience in teaching for low educated people.
