with WaterAid
WaterAid is an international NGO that enables the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water and sanitation. WaterAid's vision is of a world where everyone, everywhere has safe water, sanitation and hygiene. WaterAid’s mission is to transform the lives of the poorest and most marginalized people by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. WaterAid’s values are accountability, collaboration, courage, innovation, integrity and respect.
Water resources and water quality are an area of concern affecting water, sanitation and hygiene practices, particularly for rural communities. The government and wider stakeholders are recoginizing the growing issue of the climate crisis. Increasing demands on water resources from households, agriculture and industry are likely to become more pronounced due to the impacts of climate change. Water contamination from increased industry and flooding is having a significant impact on water quality. Poor quality water need thorough treatment before drinking. Handwashing with soap cannot be practised without enough clean water. Flooding can stop people using toilet and can lead to further contamination of water if sewage is not properly contained. To contribute to addressing these issues, WaterAid will facilitate evidence generation on climate change and water security to inform decision-making, and to support the government in planning and delivering resilient, affordable and equitable WASH and health services. WaterAid also will work to ensure that water security, climate resilience and adaptation are integrated into WASH and health programmes. WaterAid’s work will contribute to ensuring water security can be achieved through: (1) Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH); (2) Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM); and (3) Water Resource Management (WRM) interventions.
