WTP Engineer

Position Summary

Position:

  • Under the responsibility of WTP Manager, the WTP Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Main assignment and activities:
  • Assess client needs and prepare conceptual design studies, including flowsheet development, equipment sizing, layout requirements, and capital and operating cost projections.
  • Design treatment facilities, pumping stations, reservoirs, and distribution and collection systems, and confirm designs using modelling techniques.
  • Prepare engineering reports, drawings, and specifications for water and wastewater projects.
  • Assist with or prepare applications for approvals and financial assistance on behalf of clients.
  • Participate in public presentations to make the public aware of the work and possible impacts during construction.
  • Perform inspections of water and wastewater facilities and prepare summary reports of findings, including cost estimates for repair.
  • Provide construction management on behalf of clients, including cost control, schedule reviews, and payment authorization.
  • Prepare and update facility operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Perform operations evaluations.
  • Participate in facility start-ups, operator training, and process and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Conduct health and safety inspections and report findings to managers.
  • Participate in staff meetings and meetings with the public to obtain input on neighborhood concerns and problems.
  • In the office:
  • Doing paperwork, analyzing data, and preparing reports

  • Communicating on the phone and in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and government departments, and presenting designs and construction and operation reports to clients

Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Education and experience:
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Process and Environmental Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 year of industrial work experience or previous experience operating water treatment plants;
  • Key Skills and Knowledge:
  • Efficient project execution of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Understanding of client expectations, project budgeting, proposal writing, and invoicing.
  • Technical expert in all relevant areas of design and understanding of various design methods.
  • Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and Adobe.
  • Requires working knowledge of relevant design software, which may include AutoCAD Civil3D, InfoWORKS, PondKing, StormCAD, WaterCAD, Biowin, GPS-X, Visual MINTEQ and/or HADES, in accordance with expertise.
  • Good in English is a must (business correspondence & verbal at all levels). French is a plus
 
 

HS Officer

Position Summary

Position:

Under the responsibility of HSE Manager, the HS Officer will have the following responsibilities:

Job purpose: Establish an HSE Management System which monitors compliance with the HSE management system.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Principle responsibilities:
  • Conduct pre-operational risk assessments on new sites and design risk mitigation measures.
  • Develop all the required documentation, operational checks and reports for the HSE Management System including corrective and preventive measures.
  • Provide HSE improvement proposals stating: the non-conformance, proposed corrective action, required resources for corrective action and plan of implementation.
  • Assist with the implementation of Job Safety Analysis and inspect job site activities during particularly difficult or hazardous work situations;
  • Assist local management in the preparation and presentation of field HSE meetings.
  • Coordinate and participate in the investigation of accidents and near misses
  • Review and analyze accidents and near miss incidents and making corrective action recommendation
  • Ensure regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness in any emergency. Maintains records of such drills, providing recommendations for emergency response improvements;
  • Supervises the regular inspection of firefighting, safety and emergency response Equipment.
  • Assist in developing and implementing field location emergency response procedures.

  • Able to be convincing, communicatively strong
  • Excellent training skills
  • Able to provide detailed audit reports, with relevant required preventive and corrective measures

QA/QC Inspector

Position:

Under the responsibility of QA/QC manager, the QA/QC Inspector will have the following responsibilities:

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Main assignment and activities:
  • Perform daily construction surveillance at project site, and provide technical assistance. Write daily reports.
  • Supervises the correct execution of work in accordance with the technical requirements.
  • Reports daily to the Quality Manager in writing.
  • Observe and report construction progress.
  • Monitor and verify contract compliance.
  • Report discrepancies to quality manager.
  • Perform routine contract compliance inspections.
  • Coordinate code compliance inspections with governing officials.
  • Interface with contractor's, architect's and owner's site and security personnel as necessary.
  • Witnessing and sentencing of all site inspections within their disciplines
  • Coordinate all site inspections with the site subcontractors
  • Ensure that all inspection reports are accurate and that all attached documents are current status
  • Ensure all work is correctly prepared prior to any inspection being undertaken
  • Review all inspection reports for compliance
  • Assist the site QC manager in the organization, maintenance and control of the quality system
  • Liaise with the site construction engineers and provide assistance when requested

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • To support all departments in all contractual and legal matters as necessary, liaise on all aspects of contractual matters between VCGP and sub-contractors
  • Have an accurate and up to date working knowledge of contract language and structure
  • Liaise with managers and engineers to ensure contracts accurately reflect the program of work
  • Review contracts and general terms and conditions, advise on risks, and propose acceptable commercial positions
  • Work with the Contract Manager, work closely with other departments (construction, technical, financial department, QHSE department…)Proactively support compliance to VCGP’s Ethics and Compliance requirements through adherence to company policies, processes and practices
  • Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested by management

Site Supervisor

Position Summary

Job purpose: Supervisors oversee ongoing construction projects such as buildings, roads, airports or bridges. These professionals make sure that all work aspects comply with project specifications and that construction is completed on time and within budget. Besides technical expertise and safety guidelines knowledge, candidates for this job also need to emphasize in their resumes general business skills and self-motivation.

Position:

Under the responsibility of Construction Manager, the Site Supervisor will have the following responsibilities:

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Maintained work packages, resolved conflicts and issues, removed all road blocks to ensure a successful project completion. Supervised millwrights, pipefitters, ironworkers, carpenters, laborers, electricians, sheet metal workers, and painters.
  • Removed 7 rad waste pumps for replacement and cleaning the sump pits. Replaced industrial pumps to working order. Removed all the calcium and silt from the pits.
  • Removed a feed water booster pump and replaced it with a new one which required rewriting a new heavy lift plan and a FME control plan.
  • Removed feed pump on abandoned unit to be installed in the working unit. Extensive involvement on Unit #2 (non-working) removing the feed pump, to be utilized on Unit #1. Writing new procedure with heavy lift plan.
  • Restored part of the warehouse and constructed a human performance center to be used to teach the standards of the working plans of the nuclear industry.
  • Checking of all civil works that carried out by the sub-contractors like fabrication and installation of structural steel bar as well as concreting and finishing works.
  • Visual inspection on the surface condition of concrete works in order to identify any damages, such as cracking and delamination.
  • Provided technical support to sub-contractor for the standard installation and material specification including shop drawings and details.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Education and experience:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • More than 5 years experience as Site Supervisor
  • Experience in teaching construction skills to workers and counterparts through a show from experience method, mentor and coach local builders and contractors.
  • Key Skills and Knowledge:
  • Able to read and interpret plans, calculate levels and perform a site set out.
  • Manage logistics of material and equipment handling and delivery.
  • Able to work effectively with community groups and stakeholders
  • Good in English speaking and writing, French is a plus.
