Creative Lead Assistant - Project & Sourcing

Position Summary

Reports to: Creative Lead 

Location: Phnom Penh (with occasional travel to Siem Reap and regional sourcing) 

Contract: Full-time (3-month probation, 1-year contract) 

Artisans Angkor is undergoing a creative and structural transformation, and we are looking for a highly organized, resourceful, and proactive Creative Lead Assistant to support product development, creative sourcing, and cross-department coordination. 

This is a key role supporting the Creative Lead and working closely with the design, production, supply chain, and marketing teams. 

Role Overview 

  • The Creative Lead Assistant supports: 
  • Creative sourcing (materials, trims, packaging, vendors, regional suppliers) 
  • Project coordination across Creative, Production, and Marketing 
  • Light executive support for scheduling, communication, and documentation 
  • This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, communicates confidently in English, and enjoys both creative and operational work. 
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Research and screen vendors for materials, trims, packaging, and outsourced production. 
  • Request samples, organize quotations, compare pricing, and prepare vendor summaries. 
  • Coordinate communication and follow-up with suppliers in Cambodia, ASEAN, China, and India. 
  • Manage negotiation processes up to contract draft before handover to Supply Chain. 
  • Support Creative Lead in cross-functional coordination with Production and Marketing. 
  • Track sample movement and maintain organized project documentation. 
  • Assist with meeting preparation, notes, email drafting, and scheduling. 
  • Maintain and update material and vendor libraries.

Role Overview 

The Product Design Manager (Craft Division) leads the concept-to-prototype design process across Artisans  Angkor’s heritage crafts — including lacquer, stone, wood, and metal-plating. This role  bridges creative vision with technical execution, ensuring that every product embodies craftsmanship  excellence and contemporary refinement.  Beyond design delivery, this manager plays a mentorship role — guiding in-house designers and artisans to  strengthen their creative and technical understanding. The ideal candidate combines artistic sensibility,  design process discipline, and a passion for uplifting emerging talent. 

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Design Direction & Development 
  • Translate creative briefs into product concepts, sketches, and prototypes. 
  • Lead design development from ideation through sampling, ensuring consistency with Artisans Angkor’s brand standards. 
  • Collaborate with Production Directors to assess feasibility, tooling, and artisan capabilities. 
  • Team Leadership & Skill Development 
  • Train and mentor junior designers and artisans on design process, specification standards, and creative thinking. 
  • Establish repeatable workflows and documentation for design review, approvals, and sampling. 
  • Encourage design literacy and ownership among local creative staff.

The Product Design Manager (Apparel Division) leads the design development process for Artisans Angkor’s  silk apparel line — from initial concept through to prototype. This role bridges fashion design, product  development, and technical garment construction, ensuring silhouettes, materials, and finishing align with  Artisans Angkor’s luxury and sustainability standards. 

This position is both creative and developmental: it requires building the internal team’s technical capacity in  pattern making, fit analysis, and product specification, while introducing modern design methodologies to  strengthen Artisans Angkor’s in-house apparel capabilities. 

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Design Development & Technical Oversight 
  • Lead the design process from research, concept, and sketching to final prototypes. 
  • Translate creative direction into accurate technical specifications and patterns. 
  • Oversee sampling, fittings, and pattern adjustments for quality and consistency. 
  • Work closely with Cut & Sew and Weaving teams to align fabric, trim, and color standards. 
  • Team Capacity Building 
  • Train internal staff on apparel design workflow, pattern drafting, and spec documentation.

Job Summary:

Poly Lacquer Artisan

Position Summary

The Poly Lacquer Artisan is responsible for the decorative finishing and preservation of carved items. Using a combination of natural resins, mineral pigments, and precious metal leaves, they transform raw carvings into "polychrome" masterpieces that replicate the appearance of ancient Angkorian relics.

Working Conditions

Working at Artisans Angkor as a Poly Lacquer Artisan means working in a clean, open-air workshop where visitors can watch your craft.   • Refinement: Sand and buff the items by hand to make them shine like a mirror.
