The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is a Cambodian non-for-profit research institution established in 1953, IPC is today a scientific research establishment declared of public utility placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia and under the responsibility of the Institute Pasteur on the scientific and technical levels. The IPC is a member of the Pasteur Network, which brings together over 30 institutes present on five continents. It shares the Pasteurian values and the ethical charter to which the Pasteur Institutes are bound. The IPC has around 300 employees, including about 30 expatriates of 22 nationalities and includes 5 research units. It carries out research activities in health biology, public health and service activities (Medical Biology Laboratory, vaccinations and water and food analyses) and training.

The Epidemiology and Public Health Unit of the IPC conducts operational epidemiological research studies on major public health challenges in Cambodia. Specifically, the work carried out aims to improve the understanding of the transmission of infectious and emerging diseases and to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of priority pathologies in the most vulnerable populations.

Research Project Manager

Position Summary

PROJECT MANAGER IN THE EPIDEMIOLOGY AND PUBLIC HEALTH UNIT

Position Overview:

This position is critical for ensuring that all project goals are met, identifying the needs of the unit, and providing essential administrative and financial support. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Unit and play a key role in the management, coordination and smooth execution of research and operational activities, contributing to the overall success of the Epidemiology and Public Health Unit.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Project Management:
  • Oversee and coordinate the execution of multiple projects within the Epidemiology and Public Health Unit, ensuring that project timelines, objectives and deliverables are met.
  • Monitor project progress, track milestones, and identify potential risks or issues that could impact project outcomes.

  • Administrative and Operational Support
  • Provide high-level administrative support for the smooth running of project activities including organizing meetings, managing communications, and maintaining project documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, publications and other materials required for internal and external use.
  • Financial and Grant Management
  • Support budget planning and day-to-day financial tracking for ongoing projects, including processing invoices and expense monitoring in line with institutional procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Grant Office and the Finance Department to prepare financial reports and forecasts and ensure compliance with funders and institutional requirements.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
  • Act as a liaison between the project teams, the Grand Office, external partners and administrative departments to ensure effective coordination.
  • Facilitate internal communication and collaboration among scientific staff, administrative teams and external stakeholders.
  • Communication and Dissemination:
  • Support outreach and visibility efforts related to the Unit’s projects in collaboration with the communication officers.
  • Contribute to the dissemination of project results and updates through presentations, briefs, and meetings with partners, stakeholders, and scientists.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Public Health, Life Sciences, Economics, Business and Administration or a related field. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and strong relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in project coordination or management, preferably within a research, public health, or related environment.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in financial management and budget tracking within project frameworks.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools such as Microsoft Office Suite Trello, Asana or others.
  • Skills:
  • Strong English and Khmer language skills required, French language skills is an asset.

Senior Data Manager

Position Summary

SENIOR DATA MANAGER IN THE EPIDEMIOLOGY AND PUBLIC HEALTH UNIT

Position Overview:

The Senior Data Manager will work under the direct supervision of the Head of the Data and Methodology Analysis Group, and in close collaboration with project investigators, field coordinators and data analysts. This position involves supervising data field assistants, junior data manager, working with digital data collection platforms (REDCap, KoboToolbox, ODK, etc.), and contributing to reports, statistical exports, and scientific outputs.

  • Data Management and Monitoring
  • Lead and supervise data management activities for multiple large-scale and One Health surveys and longitudinal epidemiological studies.
  • Develop and manage data collection platforms using REDCap, KoboToolbox, ODK, or equivalent systems.
  • Design electronic Case Report Forms (CRFs) and supervise the creation of data entry masks.
  • Coordinate and monitor field data collection with support from field assistants and field coordinators.
  • Implement quality control procedures and conduct regular data cleaning and validation checks.
  • Maintain version control, documentation of datasets and metadata in accordance with good data management practices
  • Team Supervision and Coordination
  • Supervise and support interviewers and data field assistants in survey implementation, mobile data capture, and troubleshooting.

  • Liaise regularly with field coordinators and data analysts to ensure proper alignment of data and field procedures.
  • Analysis and Reporting Support
  • Prepare clean and well-documented datasets for statistical analysis in coordination with biostatisticians and researchers.
  • Support preliminary statistical analyses using statistical software such as Stata, R, or equivalent.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, monitoring dashboards, and study deliverables.
  • Participate in data-related sections of research protocols, manuscripts, and project documentation.
  • Use GIS tools for mapping and spatial data analysis would be considered an advantage for supporting location-based epidemiological insights
  • Data Security and Compliance:
  • Ensure proper storage, pseudonymization, and secure transfer of sensitive data.
  • Apply IPC’s data protection protocols and ensure compliance with Cambodian and international ethical and legal standards.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Data science, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Public Health, GIS or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in data management in research or public health projects.
  • Proven experience in managing digital data collection systems (REDCap, KoboToolbox, ODK, or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of statistical software (R, Stata or equivalent).
  • Experience working with multi-partner, international research consortia is an advantage.
  • Skills:
  • English and Khmer language skills required, French language skills is an asset.

Position Summary

COMMUNICATION OFFICER IN THE EPIDEMIOLOGY AND PUBLIC HEALTH UNIT

Position Overview:

This position plays a key role in strengthening the visibility and strategic communication of the Epidemiology and Public Health Unit’s activities, with a particular focus on ongoing research projects such as RACSMEI and VIRAGE. The Communication Officer will support the development and dissemination of tailored content for diverse audiences, including institutional partners, communities, and the scientific community. Working in close collaboration with principal investigators, the IPC Communications Manager, the Unit’s assistant, and both scientific and operational teams, the officer will help ensure that project messages are consistent, accessible, and impactful across various communication channels.

Senior Biostatistician

Position Summary

Position Overview:

The Senior Biostatistician will work under the supervision of the Head of the Epidemiology and Public Health Unit and in close collaboration with project investigators, research scientists, PhD Students and data managers. In addition to contributing to study design, statistical analysis plans, and analytical outputs, the Senior Biostatistician will be responsible for supervising junior data analysts, PhD students within the Methodology and Data Analysis Group.

  • Develop statistical analysis plans and perform data analysis using R, Stata, or other relevant software.
  • Apply a wide range of statistical techniques including regression, survival analysis, mixed models, geospatial analysis and Bayesian approaches.

Qualitative Research Intern

Position Summary

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH INTERVIEWER (HEALTH & SOCIAL SCIENCES) IN THE EPIDEMIOLOGY AND PUBLIC HEALTH UNIT

Position Overview:

This internship is an opportunity for practice-based learning in an interdisciplinary research environment. The Intern will work in Methodology and Data Analysis Group under the supervision of the leader of the Social Science team in conducting interviews and field observations, as well as preparing and analyzing the data collected.

  • Some prior experience in fieldwork, working with communities, or social science research in health is a plus.
  • Experience with interviews, ethnographic observation, or focus group discussions is an asset.
  • Familiarity with medical, public health, or NGO environments is an advantage.
  • Skills:
  • Fluency in Khmer is required; good spoken and written English is essential; French is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; respectful and culturally sensitive.
  • Comfortable discussing sensitive topics with discretion and professionalism.
  • Organized, reliable, flexible, and able to work independently in the field.
  • Basic knowledge of transcription, translation, or qualitative data tools (such as NVivo or Atlas.ti) is a plus, but not required.
