Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh (SISPP) is "A School like no other in Cambodia". SISPP offers a British primary school-style education based on the National Curriculum of England for pupils aged 2 to 9 years old.

Our school is the newest member of the Shrewsbury family of schools to open for business, and our business is the 'serious fun' of learning. We are deeply connected to one of the most prestigious schools in the UK, Shrewsbury School, which is almost 500 years old and has nurtured distinguished alumni such as the famous naturalist Charles Darwin.

The Early Years setting in Phnom Penh opened in the iconic Flatiron building in August 2022. Our new, purpose-built primary school campus is being constructed at a spectacular location by the Mekong in Chroy Changvar and will open in September 2024.

Job Description

Our Teaching Assistants are expected to take a full, proactive role in the founding teaching team and to deliver an outstanding education for the Early Years & primary aged children.

The below job description is not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all elements of this multifaceted role, but to lay out the key responsibilities of our Teaching Assistants.

Duties
  • Support for Pupils
  • To support pupils’ development and promote independence in a safe, secure, challenging and enabling environment.

Job Summary:

The Business Services Manager is responsible for the overall financial management and operations of Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh. This includes overseeing the school's budget, accounting, payroll, and human resources functions. The Business Services Manager also oversees the support teams such as ICT, premises management & maintenance and plays a key role in the school's strategic planning and development process. Additionally, the Business Services Manager performs the key role of Secretary to the Advisory Board of governors.

Applicants should be team players who are flexible and willing to work in a new and growing school. Candidates should be committed to ongoing school improvement and feel comfortable in a climate of change and innovative development.

Duties
  • Work with the Principal and other school leaders to develop and implement the school's development plan
  • Manage the school's annual budget process and associated in-year financial processes
  • Oversee the school's accounting and financial reporting functions to the investor board and contribute to reports to the Advisory Board of Governors.
  • Support the new secondary school campus build, fit out and resourcing process to ensure it is ready and fit for purpose in Sept 2026.
  • Manage the school's payroll and human resources functions. HR functions include safer recruitment practices, employment contract generation, ensuring compliance with local immigration and labour law.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with the General Department of Taxation, Immigration Department, Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.
  • Supervise the school's support staff in terms of probation, annual appraisal, performance management and disciplinary processes.
  • Oversee leave, attendance and punctuality processes and systems for support staff.
  • Manage the school's facilities and maintenance programmes, liaising with property management as necessary. eg. capital development projects, air-conditioning servicing etc. Ensure a plan is in place and budgeted for plant renewal, redecoration and replacement of capital items when necessary.
  • Be the contact point for local agencies of law enforcement, health authorities and other bodies.
  • Ensure a safe and effective ICT infrastructure supports teaching and learning and the admin function.
  • Develop new and manage existing service provider contracts, including the school's catering service, cleaners, transportation service provider programmes.

Duties
  • Receptionist duties:
  • To welcome and assist all visitors, maintaining high levels of customer service and professionalism at all times.
  • To be responsible for the answering of the school telephone; assisting callers, taking messages and passing on information as appropriate, and in a timely manner.
  • To be aware of your responsibility as the first member of staff that visitors and parents will speak to upon visiting the school.
  • To act as a first line of defence in our Safeguarding procedures.
  • To ensure visitors sign in and out, wear their visitors badges when they are on site, and sign to declare they have read and understood the Safeguarding information.
  • To ensure the reception area is fully resourced and maintain information, displays and resources at all times.
  • To assist with pupil welfare matters, at all times, but particularly at drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Daily support for pupil registration and attendance records for children, visitors and staff, ensuring that registers are always correct and ready, in case of emergencies.

  • Schedule Management:
  • Maintain and manage the electronic calendars for both the Principal and Head of Primary, scheduling appointments, meetings, deadlines, and travel arrangements.
