Private Sector Development Specialist for Supply Chain Sustainability in the Textile and Garment Sector

This position is for our project Promotion of Sustainability in the Textile and Garment Sector in Asia (FABRIC) in Cambodia, based in Phnom Penh.
The holder of the Private Sector Development Specialist for Supply Chain Sustainability in the Textile and Garment Sector position is expected to lead partnerships with the private sector, Government and other stakeholders to promote the sustainable development of the sector.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of project activities to improve the sustainability performance of the textile and garment sector with a special focus on social and environmental compliance and standards, due diligence and risk assessment in supply chains, human rights topics
- Conduct and support data collection, analysis and assessments with regards to sustainability in the textile and garment supply chains
- Coordinate with and provide technical support to partners from the private sector, business associations as well as partner organisations from NGOs, academia, service providers to enhance due diligence and sustainability management in Cambodia
- Support relevant capacity development formats as well as country-specific and regional events/workshops/roundtables in the field of sustainable supply chains
- Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project activities
- Contribute to the knowledge management of the project by collecting and adequately distributing information and relevant communication material about the activities
- Support regional activities in close collaboration with the other partner countries
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Sustainable supply chain management or other relevant disciplines
- At least 5 years of professional work experience in related positions of increasing responsibility, preferably with the private sector and/or third-party certifier and/or development cooperation; experience in the garment sector or another industrial sector and a relevant network would be considered a distinct advantage
- Knowledge of relevant topics and international discussions of sustainability in the supply chain, due diligence, social and environmental standards, preferably in the garment sector
- Understanding of relevant capacity development issues in the sector in Cambodia is an asset
- Good communication skills with stakeholders from development sector, NGOs, private sector and government, enabling collaboration to achieve joint objectives
- Proven ability to work in a team, also in intercultural contexts
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills; knowledge of Chinese would be a distinct advantage
Private Sector Development Specialist for Environmental Sustainability in the Textile and Garment

The holder of the Private Sector Development Specialist for Environmental Sustainability in the Textile and Garment position is expected to lead and implement initiatives and partnerships with the private sector, Government and other stakeholders to promote the sustainable development of the sector.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for the implementation of activities to improve the environmental performance of the textile and garment sector in Cambodia (including topics such as climate change mitigation, waste and energy)
- Support and coordinate relationships and initiatives with actors of the private sector as well as other partner organisations (e.g. government, NGOs, service provider) to promote environmental sustainability and policies in the textile and garment sector
- Support and implement capacity development measures as well as events, workshops and roundtables with relevant partners
- Provide technical support for the procurement of external consultancies
- Contribute to the enhancement of knowledge management and develop respective communication material about environmental activities in the sector
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of environmental activities in the project as well as ensure the knowledge management of the activities
- Support regional activities in close collaboration with the other partner countries
- University degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, Economics or other relevant disciplines
- At least 5 years of professional work experience in related positions
- At least 3 years work experience working in and/or with the private sector and/ or development cooperation and/or research on environmental topics; experience in the garment sector and/or third-party certification as well as a relevant network would be considered a distinct advantage
- Knowledge of relevant topics and international discussions in the field of environmental management and standards in the sector (such as climate change, waste, energy, water, chemicals) and sustainable global supply chains
- Understanding of relevant capacity development issues
- Experience in project management and coordination
- Excellent communication skills and negotiation experience in complex situations with stakeholders from private sector and government, enabling collaboration to achieve joint objectives
- Good general understanding of relevant topics in Cambodia with regard to environmental sustainability standards
- Proven ability to work in a team, also in intercultural contexts

The holder of the Senior Private Sector Development Specialist for Sustainability in the Textile and Garment Sector position is expected to lead partnerships with the private sector, Government and other stakeholders to promote the sustainable development of the sector.

- Lead and implement project activities to improve the sustainability performance of the textile and garment sector with a special focus on social compliance, gender equality, labour standards and human rights topics
- Provide technical advisory and management support to improve social standards, gender equality and workers` rights in close coordination with relevant actors, especially unions and NGOs etc.
- Coordinate and strengthen relationships with senior actors of the private sector as well as partner organisations from government, academia, service provider with regards to activities and policies promoting a sustainable garment sector
- Procurement and management of external consultancies to support capacity development measures and events
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the project activities
- Responsible for developing project action plans and to synchronise the planning and budgeting system
- Ensure knowledge management: collect, processes and distributes information, monitors communication and interaction between government institutions, NGOs and society through analyses of the media, direct dialogue, participation
- Support regional activities in close collaboration with the other partner countries
- University degree in Business Administration, Social Work, Economics, Social Science or other relevant disciplines.
- At least 10 years of professional work experience in related positions of increasing responsibility;
- At least 4 years experiences working with NGOs and/or development cooperation and/or with the private sector; experience in the garment sector and a relevant network would be considered a distinct advantage
- Profound knowledge of relevant topics and international discussions in the field of descent work, labour and workers` rights, gender equality, occupational, health and safety, preferably in the garment sector
- Understanding of relevant capacity development issues
- Experience in project management and coordination
- Excellent communication skills and negotiation experience in complex situations with senior stakeholders from development sector, NGOs, private sector and government, enabling collaboration to achieve joint objectives
