GRET is a French NGO that has been actively fighting poverty and inequalities since 1976. There are 800 prefessionals working for GRET in 28 countries. GRET started its activities in Cambodia since 1988. Currently GRET is working in serveral sectors such as Water and Sanitation, Agriculture and Irrigation, Agroecology & Nutrition, Value Chains, Land governance and Social Protection. Since 2010, GRET and CIRD implemented APICI project in collaboration with provincial department of agriculture (PDA) and provincial department of commerce (PdoC), in order to develop a sustainable agriculture for smallholder farmers in Sotr Nikum and Prasat Bakong districts, in Siem Reap province. It aimed at increasing incomes and at improving the livelihood of smallholder farmers through the development of sustainable agriculture by the intensification and diversification of agricultural productions and the strengthening agriculture cooperatives (AC) and their access to market. Since 2023, the project is evolving toward a territorial approach so-called APICI/TETARD project, increasing its area of intervention to 4 districts: Sotr Nikum, Chi Kreng, Svay Leu and Prasat Bakong and working with various stakeholders to co-build a plan for sustainable and safe food systems at provincial level, in addition to its continuous support to smallholder farmers. Currently, the project activities are directly implemented in 160 villages, through 9 ACs in addition to collective actions with partners and local authorities in Siem Reap city.

GRET is looking for a potential individual trainer to deliver a training service with focused topics on social behavior change and community development skills. The selected trainer will work closely with the head of project (HoP) and technical advisor (TA) to ensure the quality training delivered to project staff.

Trainer to Provide a Training on Social Behavior Changes and Community Development Skills

Position Summary

OBJECTIVE

The assignment aims at providing quality training topics mentioned above—Social Behavior Change and Community Development Skills—to 15 project staffs. The overall objective is to strengthen staff capacity in using social behavior change and community development strategies to support sustainable, community-led initiatives. Specifically, the training will equip staff with skills to assess community needs, design and implement SBC strategies, engage communities, monitor progress, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

LOCATION

The training will take place at Siem Reap city of Siem Reap province, and the specific venue is yet to be confirmed.

METHODOLOGY AND SCOPE OF WORK

Under the supervision and in close cooperation with GRET the trainer will implement the following tasks:

1. Development of the methodology and the training schedule

  • Drafting the methodology and training schedule/ content and submitting it to GRET for approval – a draft of the methodology and training schedule should be submitted for application. Teaching methods such as discussions, games, role play and icebreakers should be included for the training to be as participative and inclusive as possible.
  • Finalizing the methodology and training schedule in close collaboration with GRET in case the consultant is selected after the recruitment process.

2. Conducting 1-day training

  • Development of the materials needed for the training
  • Brief GRET HoP and TA before the training
  • Based on the adopted methodology and training schedule, conduct the training in Khmer
  • Evaluate the training (by a pretest and posttest results’ analysis for example)
  • Write a report to capitalize on the training (content, challenges, solutions, advice) and submit it to GRET
  • Answer the GRET comments if needed

DURATION OF WORK

The assignment should be 4 days maximum (including 1 day training on September 2nd 2025).

Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • At least 6 years working in the field required (project management and community/AC development);
  • Strong knowledge staff mobilization, team spirit creation and leadership skill.
  • Having a comprehensive knowledge on sustainable development goal is an asset.

GRET reserves the right to deduct up to 0.5% of the total contract price for each day's delay in meeting the deliverables specified. This deduction shall be applied to the last payment of 50% of the contract price.
