One year-intermittent contract estimated to start with initial work period from July 13, 2026 through October 09, 2026, with up to four additional 1-year option periods, exercisable at the unilateral option of the Peace Corps based on satisfactory performance, continued need for the position, and availability of funds. Requires a minimum working schedule of 40-48 hours per week during Pre-Service Training (10 weeks of pre-service training plus initial training-of-trainers). The TT may work during other training events throughout the contract period as needed (e.g., In-Service Training, Mid-Service Training, etc.). The United States Peace Corps in Cambodia seeks up to 1 Technical Trainer for our 10-week Pre- Service Training (PST) for the 18th cohort of Peace Corps Volunteers (K18) in Cambodia who will be teaching in Upper Secondary Schools, Primary School, Primary Teacher Training Colleges, and Regional Teacher Training Centers throughout Cambodia.
Position Description:
The Technical Trainer is responsible for the review, revision, implementation, evaluation, and final reporting of the Pre-Service TEFL Technical Training curriculum. The incumbent must become familiar with Peace Corps’ training approach and the English Teaching and Teacher Training (ETTT) project framework in order to successfully facilitate and evaluate trainee performance.
The Technical Trainer is expected to live and work at a training site in rural Cambodia during the 10 weeks of Pre-Service Training.
REPORTING
The Technical Trainer is directly supervised by the Training Director and works closely with Pre- service Training team and other members of the programming and training team.
- Conduct and coordinate technical training sessions, discussions, and practicum activities at the PST site according to the calendar of training events;
- Review Peace Corps Cambodia’s TEFL Training curriculum including competencies, learning objectives, and training materials;
- Update training materials and content and facilitate technical training sessions to a group of Trainees;
- Document key learnings for TEFL training quality improvement Prepare and work as a team with other PST training staff;
- Evaluate Trainees’ comprehension of material, classroom behavior, and practicum performance and give regular feedback; and
- Participate in all PST-staff meetings and events.

- Bachelor's Degree in One year of TEFL instruction may be substituted for this requirement
- Experience in direct classroom teaching of English as a foreign language, preferably in Cambodia for 1 year
- Experience working within a cross-cultural team for 1 year
- Fluent and professional English speaker
- Experience training new TEFL teachers
- Experience teaching at primary/secondary in Cambodia
- Keen knowledge of student-centered learning approaches
- Understanding of Cambodian education system
- Experience working and living in rural of Cambodia
- Familiarity with programming and training with the Peace Corps or a similar international organization
- Experience facilitating training or professional development for young adults or young professionals, especially Americans
