The role
The Teaching Development Officer will work directly with the SBBCs’ Team to
implement Transform Education Program (TEP). The Teaching Development Officer will:
- Build the capacity of SBBC program participants by observing practice, giving feedback and setting goals for improvements
- Facilitate the workshops for teachers, mentors and master mentors on teaching methodologies and subject content such as maths, mentoring and teacher professional identity and lead communities of practice.
- Work as part of a team to achieve program and organisation objectives, and collect information and data to demonstrate outcomes
- R1: Build the capacity of SBBC program participants by observing practice, giving feedback and setting goals for improvements
- Conduct the mentoring to Program Participants (teacher, mentor and master mentor) to observe, give feedback and set goals on a regular basis.
- Meet regularly with program participants (teacher, mentor, DoE, and principle) and address issues and challenges and collect data to monitor and evaluate programs.
- Monitor skill growth and analyse evaluations to set goals and actions for the future improvement of the projects.
- R2: Facilitate the workshops for teachers, mentors and master mentors on teaching methodologies and subject content such as maths, mentoring and teacher professional identity and lead communities of practice.
- Facilitate the high quality and engaging workshops about teaching methodologies and subject knowledge for early grades teachers, mentoring, and to develop teacher professional identity.
- Coordinate with the District Office of Education focal person to run the community of practice with teachers, mentors and master mentors regularly and tracking progress in order to learn and improve on program delivery.
- Assist in design, write and publish educational resources and teaching materials to support all programs and projects.
- R3: Work as part of a team to achieve program and organisation objectives, and collect information and data to demonstrate outcomes
- Organise schedules, meetings, school visits and resources as required.
- Take responsibility for smooth delivery of student assessment at schools.
- Identify successes and challenges and communicate this to the project managers.
- Participate in an annual performance appraisal process, the outcome of which may result in an annual pay review.
- Any other administrative tasks may require.
- ESSENTIAL
- Experience or formal qualifications in teaching (primary or secondary), teaching experience at Cambodian public schools or private schools or equivalent experience or training
- Experience working or learning in teacher development
- Experience working with NGO’s or Educational Organisations
- DESIRABLE
- Good negotiation and motivational skills
- Previous experience working with NGO’s
- basic IT skills including Google Drive and related applications, Moodle, and digital resource

The role
The Teaching Development Officer-Ed Tech will work directly with the SBBC’s Team and program stakeholders to implement the Transform Education Program (TEP). S/he will build the capacity of SBBC program participants through training and ongoing support. S/he will also assist the program team in designing EdTech resources for stakeholders and monitor the effectiveness of implementation. The role will require performing other reasonable tasks as necessary.
- R1: Training Program Participants
- Facilitate high-quality workshops about teaching methodologies in early grades using educational technology.
- Coordinate the communities of practice with teachers and mentors monthly and track the progress.
- Work with school leaders to appoint the focal person for EdTech and build their capacity to resolve technical challenges, ensuring technology runs smoothly and operations are not hampered.
- Provide ongoing support to teachers and mentors with various technology-related issues like tablets, projector problems, printer malfunctions, and internet or network difficulties, resolve technical challenges, ensuring technology runs smoothly, and operations are not hampered.
- R2: Mentorship to Program Participants at Schools
- Meet regularly with program participants (teacher, mentor, and principals) and address issues and challenges in educational technology.
- Conduct mentoring for program participants (teacher, mentor, and master mentor) to observe, give feedback, and set an action plan for educational technology.
- Support the IT and Facilities Manager in managing the security and maintenance of the Ed Tech devices.
- Monitor the skill growth of teachers and mentors and analyse evaluations to set goals and actions for the future.
- Identify successes and challenges and communicate this to the district and project managers regularly, as well as assist with various technology-related issues like tablets, projector problems, printer malfunctions, and internet or network difficulties.
- R3: Resource Development and Planning
- Assist Ed Tech project manager in designing, writing and publishing educational resources and teaching materials to support all programs and projects.
- Assist the program team with digital resources such as big books, high-frequency words, videos, lesson plans, and other educational resources.
- Collect data using tablets, projectors, Moodle, and other relevant tools to monitor and evaluate the program.
- Set a schedule for maintenance and audit all the educational technology equipment (tablets, projectors, Moodle and other educational technologies at school).
- Participate in the required training and an annual performance appraisal process, the outcome of which may result in an annual pay review.
- ESSENTIAL
- Experience or formal qualifications in teaching (primary or secondary), teaching experience at Cambodian public schools or private schools or equivalent experience or training
- Qualifications and experience in technologies for education, both hardware and software
- Experience working or learning in teacher development

The role
The Teaching Development Officer - Literacy will work directly with SBBC team in Oddar Meanchey to implement the early grade Literacy Teacher mentoring project in Chong Kal District. The role includes developing literacy lesson plans based on an integrated literacy approach, supporting teachers in implementing the lessons and engaging with the school and school community.
- R1: Strengthen teachers' skills and capacity in literacy teaching, and mentoring skills for master mentors
- Organise and run the Literacy workshops for teachers and master mentors.
- Facilitate the Communities of Practice sessions with teachers and master mentors monthly.
- Provide ongoing support to teachers and master mentors on using educational technology equipment such as tablets, projectors, and other digital resources.
- Evaluate teacher quality and offer feedback to teachers regarding areas of strength and weakness in teaching techniques.
- Visit teachers/classrooms on a weekly basis to offer support in teaching literacy for early grades, to help organise and to assist with the implementation of the SBBC Literacy Teacher Mentoring project, including team teaching and coaching teachers in-class in specific teaching and learning strategies.
- Analyse classroom evaluations to set goals and actions for teachers and plan for future visits
- Organise and attend the community meetings or education events at the school and district levels.
- R2: Resource development to ensure teachers are equipped with effective, bespoke literacy and EdTech classroom resources.
- Participate in the development and delivery of smooth, efficient and high-quality teaching workshops (including organisation of training sessions and materials)
- Participate in Professional Development to build teaching strategies for use with teachers.
- Coordinate input from project stakeholders and support the project manager in developing and improving literacy resources in hard and digital formats.
- Prepare and organise classroom materials set for each class, and collect the resources from schools.
- R3: Work as part of a team to achieve program and organisation objectives, and collect information and data to demonstrate outcomes
- Support the district and project managers in establishing relationships with schools and communities where the Literacy Teacher Mentoring project operates.
- Take responsibility for the smooth delivery of student assessment at schools.
- Identify successes and challenges, and communicate this to the project managers.
- Be involved in an exchange visit/connect trip from Australia or Ireland to Cambodia and vice versa, and other project activities as required by the organisation
- Participate in an annual performance appraisal process, the outcome of which may result in an annual pay review.

- Teaching experience at Cambodian public schools or private schools
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
