Sunrise Cambodia is a world-class charity working on the ground in Cambodia to give much-needed help to at-risk kids, struggling families and poor communities in some of the most poverty-stricken provinces of the country.

Sunrise Cambodia began in the early 1993s when a South Australian fifty-year old named Geraldine Cox began a small orphanage to care for the some of the orphaned grandchildren from Pol Pot’s regime. Unable to have her own children, Geraldine became “Mum to Many” as she took in street kids, orphans and the disabled to give them good food, a place to sleep, medical & dental care, an education and lots of love.

Position Summary
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Prepare daily or weekly lesson plans with clear objectives and make sure that all necessary materials for teaching are available in use to make a very active and productive learning in class.
  • Design and create visual teaching materials such as posters, flashcards and other visual aids to support teaching
  • Provide classroom decorations to make it more interesting
  • Make fun, games and interesting activities in the class
  • Apply all methodologies that encourage a student-centered approach
  • Create classroom agreements and maintain classroom agreements with students
  • Give advice or talk to individual students who has misbehaved at school and in the class
  • Work as an individual student’s tutor to teach the students with learning difficulty
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • Chinese - Mandarin - Fluent
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in education
Work History:
  • Teaching experience for 2 years as a minimum
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Relevant experience working for non-government organizations
  • Ability to design lessons which fit both residential and community students
  • High Command of Mandarin proficiency
Soft Skills
  • Love and value teaching career
  • Desire to teach kids and young Mandarin learners from poor family backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal skill to liaison with other relevant staff within Sunrise Cambodia
  • Possess professional attitude and diligence and able to work independently as well as work in a team
