Teacher Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY
Teacher Assistant is individual who provide support to the teacher and to students in an appropriate manner that improves the overall quality of education in the classroom and school.
- Instructional Support
- Ensures that students grasp lesson objectives;
- Reinforces learning to students by reviewing the course material and helping them with class work assignments;
- Encourages students to work independently but also to have class participation and interaction with other students;
- Provides individual assistance to students experiencing learning difficulty, explain errors answer questions, assist research, clarify directions;
- Performs weekly or monthly student observations. This involves monitoring students’ academic, cooperative and behavioural performance, then reporting the students’ progress to the Academic Coordinator and Campus Director);
- Should be able to demonstrate proficiency in the subject being taught to students;
- Substitutes teachers if teachers are absents;
- Non-Instructional Support
- Performs clerical duties and tasks for classroom maintenance
- May have to update memos and notices, take attendance, distribute and collect assignments and prepare other classroom related material
- Maintains a neat and orderly classroom environment
- Supervises students not only inside but also outside the classroom is a very important role; that included monitoring hallways, lunchroom, sleeping room, playground areas, etc.
- Required to be a respectful, cooperative, and reliable team member and participant in school activities.
- HIGHEST PRIORITY
- Respects and abides by Forest Hill International School vision, mission, goals and all policies, guideline, and quality management systems;
- Coordinates all daily class operation within the school;
- Follows and handles all issues related to students for the school;
- Coordinates and suggests recommendations for school;
- Provides information about students to the teachers and Vice-Principal;
- Handles hospitality work for Forest Hill;
- DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITIES
- Makes sure to provide an effective education support to teachers and students
- Orders & follows all direction from Forest Hill and WEG;
- Considers over education operating activities, based on the policies approved;
- Education Background
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in education or related courses;
- Work Experience
- Minimum of one-year experience in teaching;
- Computer knowledge (Ms. Office, internet & email, & Ms. Project);
- Language
- Good English Proficiency;
- Technical Competencies and Skills
- High level of diplomacy & confidentiality required;
- Understand that becoming a teacher assistant is far from being a menial supportive staff job, they are vital elements in the field of education.
- Individuals should can demonstrate a high level of knowledge in a specific subject area related to children;
- Leadership and Communication Skills/Personality Qualities
- Strong organizational, communication, report writing, decision-making, conflict solving, & facilitating skills, & good interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrate ability to work independently, trustworthily, & collaboratively;
- Being able to quickly solve the issue is required
