Substitute Teacher
CIS is establishing a pool of substitute teachers with a variety of skills and a range of experiences. Substitute teachers are needed at the Early Years, Elementary and Middle School and High School levels. Teachers with Mandarin- and French-language skills are also required.
Substitute teachers may teach in one class or more than one class over the course of a morning or full day at CIS. Substitute teachers will utilize the substitute teaching plans notes provided by classroom teachers.
- Maintain an inclusive, welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environment
- Employ classroom management strategies that promote positive, engaging learning environments
- Follow school procedures and the teaching plans provided
- Fulfill their role in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all students in the school by attending training sessions, signing a Code of Conduct and reporting to the Safeguarding Lead any concerns they have for the welfare of a student
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director, Programs and Services
- Bachelor’s degree in education or early childhood education qualification preferred
- Experience working with diverse school communities a strong asset
- Native English speaker; French and Mandarin language skills an asset

- Brings a positive mindset, humility, integrity and a solutions-focussed attitude
- Demonstrates cultural competence and enjoys learning about new cultures
- Patient, flexible and adaptable
- Comfortable using ICT, especially Macbooks, iPads and Google Workspace
