Happy Chandara School was created by the French Organization “Toutes à l’Ecole”. This school is supported by donations from individuals and foundations from European countries, including France, Belgium and Luxembourg. Happy Chandara School is composed of a primary, a secondary and a high school as well as a boarding school. Our school offers high quality free education to underprivileged young girls coming from the Prek Thmey area, located about 20 km south of Phnom Penh. Now, approximately 1200 students follow the Khmer program and benefit from additional courses such as foreign languages and IT classes.

Contract type: Fixed Duration Contract

Reporting Line: Chandara Student Homes Director

Working hours: 40 hours/weekly, Monday to Saturday

Main Missions

  • To ensure that the students study in the best possible conditions by reducing the negative impact of their social background on their studies (on-demand requests)
  • To audit every year one promotion to update their social/economic status
  • Referent for social questions/topics with Student home management, students and families
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Main tasks and routine activities
  • Family follow up
  • On demand family intervention and follow-up
  • Identify problems and propose solutions to families / support them in resolution or application
  • Prepare a weekly planning of daily field visits to conduct socio-economic assessment of families (1 promo per year)
  • Update information in database
  • Monthly Report and meeting reports according to requests
  • Collaboration with other departments and stakeholders
  • Work with other departments to plan and coordinate work especially with psychologists, health team, pedagogical team, career guidance and other relevant departments
  • Collaborate with Happy Chandara’s Social Team to ensure smooth transition for girls transitioning from grade 12 to higher education
  • Build good relations with local authorities
  • Work with parents to maximize their understanding of the university system functioning.
  • Establish relationship with other stakeholders that work in a similar field in order to refer cases if needed (NGO for example)
  • Refer the case to the other departments when it’s necessary (especially Health department and pedagogy department)
  • Work on projects
  • Actively participate in the administrative transition for girls from HCS to CSH
  • May be responsible for certain projects in collaboration with the team and under the supervision of the manager
  • Emergencies
  • Take care of urgent cases and serious cases (absences, dropping out, socio-medical emergencies ,… )
  • Any other task or project assigned by the manager.
Requirements:
  • Profile required
  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Sociology or Psychology is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a community.
  • Good command of Khmer and English. French is a plus.

Primary School Science Coordinator

Position Summary

Main Missions

  • Assists the science experiments and activities at the primary school by cooperating with all the involving people
  • Teaches students on science subject
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • General tasks
  • Install, clean up and put away the material and products necessary to perform the experiments
  • Handle the timetables for the laboratory and plan the experiments with the teachers
  • Be sure that all the laboratory equipment is in good conditions, report any failure and follow up the repairs
  • Handle material and product stocks, prepare the orders for new material and contact the suppliers
  • Assist the class teachers to perform the experiments
  • Make up the annual global manuals of experiments and materials
  • Develop the monthly experimenting by coordinating with teachers and school director/deputy director
  • Join in science curriculum development.
  • Technical tasks
  • Write down new experimental procedures with the class teachers
  • Coach teachers to know about the manuals and scientific method for the experimenting performance
  • Train teachers on the science and experiments
  • Assist the teaching of science subject in the classrooms by pictures, videos and other useful resources in order to make the teaching and learning more attractive and effective
  • Make the feedbacks/follow up and report about the experiments
  • Keep the laboratory files (material, experiments, chemical products and instructions for using the devices) updated
  • Join in coaching teachers of the process and lesson for the experiments
  • Teach students on science subjects at least 10 sections per week.
Requirements:
  • Profile required:
  • At least Bachelor Degree of Science, in field of biology is mostly preferred
  • Experience in the common laboratory material, science products and their precautions of use
  • Good knowledge of leading and facilitating staff to work on science subject and experiments
  • Good comprehension in Khmer and English, or French is plus
  • First-aid certificate appreciated

Line Manager Chinese Coordinator

Missions

The Chinese teacher is teaching, developing and promoting the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children, according to age, ability and aptitude. S/he creates daily lesson plans, conducts classroom discussions, administer and grade tests, assign and review homework, and complete individual student assessments.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Chinese Language
  • Teach Chinese to Grade 7 students according to the teaching plan given by management
  • Brainstorming Chinese language activities to improve students’ communication ability
  • Enhance students’ language development regarding listening, speaking, reading and writing in Chinese
  • Chinese Culture
  • Contribute to developing extra-curricular Chinese cultural activities (e.g. Setting up Chinese Club)
  • Show and share about Chinese culture (Calligraphy, Chinese Martial Arts, Chess, Drawing, Food etc.)
  • Organize Chinese cultural activities on and off campus (e.g. playing Chinese movies or visiting Chinese cultural heritage in Cambodia)
