The HALO Trust is the world’s largest humanitarian mine action organization, working to rid the world of landmines and explosive remnants of war. Employing over 13,000 staff on the ground in 32 countries and territories helping millions of families return to their homes safely, but there is still much more to do.

The HALO Trust has been working in Cambodia since 1991 and currently employs over 1,100 staff to work on mine clearance and explosive ordnance disposal projects in the north and northwest of the country.

Social Media Intern

Position Summary

Duration: Three months (with possible extension of three months)

Start date:   June or July 2026

We are looking for a creative and motivated Social Media Intern to support HALO Cambodia's communications on Facebook. You will gather stories from the field, create content, and manage our Facebook page in collaboration with our Projects Office, helping us share our work with Cambodian audiences.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Research, write, and post content on HALO Cambodia's Facebook page in Khmer.
  • Photograph and film field activities using HALO equipment. 
  • Develop simple graphics and visual content.
  • Monitor page engagement and report basic analytics to your line manager.
  • Support the team with other communications tasks as needed.
Benefits:
  • Monthly stipend of $150–$180 depending on experience
  • Travel expenses are covered for field visits outside Siem Reap
  • Hands-on experience in humanitarian communications
  • A certificate of completion issued by HALO HR on successful completion of the internship
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • Khmer - Fluent
  • English - Fluent
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Undergraduate Degree in in any relevant discipline.
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Strong written and spoken Khmer. English is an asset.
  • Confidence using Facebook and basic content creation tools such as Canva.
  • Ability to take photos and short videos in the field.
Soft Skills
  • Full-time availability, five days per week.
  • Interest in humanitarian work, development, or community storytelling.
  • Willingness to travel outside Siem Reap for field visits, travel expenses are covered.
  • A letter of recommendation from your school is required with your application.
  • Commitment to HALO's code of conduct, including respect for beneficiary dignity and consent at all times.
