Senior Social Worker

Position Summary

Reports to

  • Direct line report to Centre Manager and Bambou Coordinator for overall operational matters.
  • Functional report to Head of Social Department for technical support & specific social matters.

Responsible for

All social topics related to their assigned social programs & projects, including:

  • Identifying and understanding the needs of the children and families.
  • Visiting families to ensure alignment with EDM’s policy.
  • Following-up their education and helping for their studies orientation, through a personalised approach.
  • Mentoring other members of the Social team.
  • Respecting Child Rights and Protection policies, as well as EDM rules and values.
  • Collaborating with other EDM centres in Cambodia.

Working hours: 40hs / week – Monday to Friday + occasionally during weekends for events.

Location: CDCM, Phnom-Penh, Toul Kork. And 50% to 75% on the field for regular missions (most of them are daily missions).

PURPOSE

EDM’s mission is to support the most vulnerable families, with a strong focus on education. The children we support today will help their country tomorrow.

The senior social worker plays a crucial role in direct interaction with children, families, local authorities, program managers, schools and godparents.

Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Knowledge, skills and experience
  • At least Bachelor degree, ideally in Social Study, Community Development, Psychology, or Management
  • At least 5-years of experience in social affairs.
  • Ability to do planning, actions plan and prioritizing.
  • High level of interpersonal communication.
  • Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel, SharePoint/Teams.
  • Good level (speaking-reading-writing) in English. French is a plus.
  • Soft skills
  • Kind-hearted with strong willingness to support the most vulnerable people.
  • Operational manager, with a get things done approach.
  • Friendly, helpful, honest and team work oriented.
  • Empathy and willing to build relationships with children.
  • Passionate about promoting access to education for underprivileged children.
  • Willing to learn new things.
  • Committed to work and proactive.
