Senior Quality Control Manager (Soft Toys, Garments, Footwear, Cambodia)
We are a British-owned company specializing in toy and garment manufacturing across Asia. We are seeking a highly experienced Country Manager based in Cambodia to oversee Jellycat’s operations in Cambodia, managing supplier relationships, ensuring product quality, and optimizing production processes. This role plays a pivotal part in aligning Cambodia operations with global company strategies, ensuring compliance with international standards, and supporting future expansion of manufacturing sites in Cambodia.
Working Time: Monday to Saturday (aligned with vendor/factory hours)
Location: Phnom Penh, with frequent travel to Kampong Speu and Kampot Province
Reports to: UK Head Quarter with full operational autonomy
- Functional Responsibilities / External Contacts
- Work closely with managers to align quality goals with production objectives
- Collaborate with vendors and production teams to ensure products meet quality standards
- Liaise with external testing labs to ensure products comply with international safety and quality standards
- Oversee communication with the Quality Control teams in other regions to ensure consistency across global operations
- Quality Control Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Control (QC) processes throughout the production cycle
- Ensure that all products meet quality standards before they are shipped to global markets
- Implement corrective actions for any identified defects or quality issues
- Product Testing & Certification:
- Oversee the product testing process for Cambodia vendors / factories, ensuring that all products comply with international safety standards such as EN71, ASTM F963, and REACH
- Work closely with external testing labs to ensure timely and accurate testing of all products
- Supplier Quality Management:
- Conduct regular audits of factories to ensure compliance with company quality standards
- Ensure factories implement corrective actions when quality issues are identified
- Monitor factory performance through quality metrics and provide feedback to factories to drive continuous improvement.
- Inspection & Monitoring:
- Oversee the inspection of raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet the required specifications.
- Implement in-process quality control measures to identify and resolve issues during production.
- Manage final inspections before products are approved for shipment.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of all quality control activities, including test results, inspections, and audit findings
- Provide regular reports to regional and UK management on quality performance, product defects, and areas for improvement
- Ensure all documentation is prepared and maintained for regulatory compliance and internal audits
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
- Drive continuous improvement in quality management processes and systems
- Work with factories and internal teams to implement best practices and reduce defects or quality issues
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in production processes while maintaining high-quality standards
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and train the Quality Control team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively
- Develop and implement training programs for the QC team, and factories, to enhance quality control procedures
- Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate risks related to product quality and safety
- Implement preventive measures to avoid quality issues and product defects
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in quality assurance or quality control, preferably in the toy or garment industry
- Graduate level in Textile Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or related fields.
- Certifications in Quality Assurance (e.g., ISO 9001) are an advantage
- Strong knowledge of international safety and quality standards (e.g., EN71, ASTM F963)
- Experience in implementing quality management systems (QMS) and conducting quality audits
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills in English and Khmer.
