We are looking for our new Senior Programme Coordinator to join our programme in Cambodia! Unique employment opportunity. No prior knowledge or experience in Mine Action and Disarmament is needed as all necessary training in this field will be provided. We need candidates with a growth mindset and motivation to learn, contribute and develop.

Wars and armed conflicts come to an end; however, the remnants of war continue to impact millions of people for decades to follow. We work for a world where people and communities are safe, resilient and protected before, during and after armed conflict. Together with national authorities and other stakeholders, we are working to resolve problems faced by local communities caused by Explosive Ordnance (EO). Currently, NPA has more than 20 Mine Action Programmes ongoing in Africa, Asia, Latin America, South East Europe and the Middle East. Our presence in Cambodia dates back to 1992 providing de-mining assistance to Cambodia in order to prepare for resettlement of refugees returning from the border camps in Thailand. Today we continue our own operations as well as work closely with national authority Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) and national operator Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) for a Cambodia free of mines, cluster munition and other Explosive Ordnance (EO).

Position Summary

Senior Programme Coordinator - Mine Action and Disarmament (MAD) programme - (one position) based in Phnom Penh.

Role Overview:

The Senior Programme Coordinator (SPC) is lined managed and work closely with the Programme Manager. The SPC has a key role to deliver communication task and resource mobilization efforts. The SPC is also gender focal point for the Programme. See the Job Description for detail.

The position is based in Phnom Penh and requires travelling across the county between NPA projects and operational areas as well as opportunities for international travels.

Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Required qualifications:
  • Master Degree.
  • Excellent English language skills – both written and spoken.
  • Skills in concept note and proposal writing.
  • Personal competencies:
  • Growth mindset and motivation to learn, contribute and develop.
  • Interest to engage in gender inclusion (training can be provided).
  • Interest to engage in work to reduce climate- and environmental impact (training can be provided).
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate activities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work calmly under tight schedule.
  • Ability to work independently for extended periods of time with limited supervision.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally.
