Senior Legal Assistant
Any staff member of the SKPCLG who was successfully selected and does not want to be long-term staff with the office is encouraged to resign at the end of probation period of 3 months from the post and the office will provide incentives of $400.
- As team leader, managing and coordinating all activities of Legal Assistants, Administrative and Financial Assistant, and Legal Interns within SK&P Cambodia Law Group (SKPCLG) to ensure all team members are contributing to the growth of the office;
- Coordinating overall services between staff and management within SKPCLG
- Training, assisting, and/or providing orientation for new and less experienced staff members and intern;
- Assisting other staff with workflow and providing backup support;
- Performing other relevant duties in the particular practice area as directed by the
- management, especially immediate supervisor and/or chairperson of SKPCLG;
- Provide the following assistances to the management and attorneys:
- In conducting desk review, summarizing legal documents and information containing in a dossier (court case, administrative case and project related activities);
- In interviewing clients, witnesses and/or informants in civil case, criminal case, administrative case and in a project undertaken by the office upon request and under the guidance of supervisor; for all stages of procedures;
- In preparing exhibits, and preparing and scheduling witness appearances for legal proceedings;
- At trial or hearing, and meeting client at the prison when requested.
- Drafting legal opinions and memoranda such as contracts, motions, appeals, and interrogatories for review, approval, and use by attorneys, in various procedures;
- Under the guidance of lawyer, investigating facts and analyzing laws, regulations and judicial decisions, legal opinions, and other documents to determine legal relevancy;
- Performing and/or coordinating complex legal and records research;
- Checking legal forms and documents drafted by attorneys for accuracy;
- Preparing reports, such as progress reports of a specific case, training reports, workshop reports etc. In case SK&P undertaking a project from development partner and a client/ prospect, assisting the management in preparing statements, concept notes and related documents for submitting reports to relevant agencies/organizations;
- Preparing/draft correspondence and administrative letters, and legal documents such as notification, complaints, power of attorney (engagement), legal services agreement, and other documents for submission to the court,
- Attending a meeting, workshop, conference, etc. on behalf of the SKPCLG or upon the assignment by lawyer;
- Assist SK & P CLG team in organizing a Training Workshop, namely developing training materials/modules, compiling training materials, hand-outs, case studies, facilitating working group and assessing needs and evaluating training results;

- REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Academic Qualifications: University degree in public policy, sociology, law, public administration.
- Years of experience:
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience in the project management and legal areas, such as legal aid, legislative drafting, report writing, particularly experienced on the court case management;
- Experience for the legal analysis;
- Strong knowledge of national and international frameworks and policies in relation to human rights, child rights and monitoring & evaluation.
- LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT: Fluent in written and spoken English and Khmer.
