Senior Accountant

Position Summary

Reports To: Finance Manager

Contract: Fixed Duration

Salary Band: Level 5 (600$ Negotiable)

Type of role: Senior

Working Hours: 8am – 12pm, 2pm – 5pm Monday to Friday

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the Finance Manager to ensure accurate, transparent, and audit‑ready financial management. This position requires strong expertise in budgeting, financial reporting, compliance with Cambodian accounting standards, and donor requirements. The Senior Accountant will also assist in variance analysis, payroll oversight, and preparation of consolidated reports for management and donors.

Reporting Line

Reports directly to the Finance Manager and works closely with the HR and program teams.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Budget preparation: Assist in developing annual and project budgets, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and organizational priorities.
  • Financial reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; ensure accuracy and compliance with NGO and donor standards.
  • Audit support: Maintain audit‑ready documentation and support external and internal audits.
  • Payroll oversight: Review payroll calculations, ensuring proper separation of overtime, bonuses, and statutory deductions.
  • Compliance monitoring: Ensure adherence to Cambodian tax laws, NGO regulations, and donor agreements.
  • Variance analysis: Support Finance Manager in analyzing budget variances and preparing consultant‑style reports for donor submission.
  • Team support: Provide guidance to junior staff and collaborate with HR and program teams on financial matters.
  • Communication: Draft clear, professional financial correspondence for donors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/ACCA is preferred
Work History:
  • Accounting experience, ideally in the NGO sector for 3 years as a minimum
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Strong skills in budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance documentation.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software.
  • Knowledge of Cambodian tax law and NGO financial regulations.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities
  • Experience working in an NGO
Soft Skills
