Hagar is a Christian INGO, founded in 1994 in response to the prevalence of extreme domestic and community violence affecting women and children in post-civil war Cambodia. Over the past 3 decades Hagar has transformed into an internationally recognized leader in trauma informed care services for survivors of human trafficking, slavery, and abuse. Hagar International has affiliated fundraising and advocacy offices located in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, The UK and USA. These offices help to promote Hagar’s trauma recovery work by raising awareness and funding to support programming in our Program Offices.

Our Mission: We walk the whole journey of restoration with each survivor, empower communities to prevent exploitation and strengthen systems to protect those vulnerable to human trafficking, slavery and abuse.

Senior Accountant

Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the overall financial management of Hagar International head office and coordination of financial management across all entities within the Hagar Federation of eleven countries. The role is a senior role however it is also very hands-on in nature given the scale of the organization and the capacity needs of staff in the field offices. The role is suited to someone who is not afraid to get into all levels of work in the organization and who would like to help an organization who is making a real impact on some of the most vulnerable people in the world.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Month End Close and Reporting for Hagar International Head Office
  • Consolidation of Hagar International Group results and preparation of monthly reports
  • Cash Flow management
  • Support the preparation of monthly accounting and tax reports for Canaan Property Trust
  • Liaison with external auditors to support annual audit of Hagar International
  • Annual budget and forecasting process.
  • Technical advice and assistance throughout Hagar International Group Entities
  • Process Improvement
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Education and Experience:
  • Minimum bachelor’s in accounting/business administration or related field
  • At least 5 experiences in an equivalent finance role.
  • Previous experience managing global finances in several countries or in the NGO sector.
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse, global organization.
  • Significant understanding of current relevant legislation relating to finance and accounting, and specifically to grant and donor funding.
  • Strong oral and written English literacy.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
  • Advanced Financial Management skills
  • Solid computer proficiency, including advanced excel skills, experience with SharePoint and advanced experience with different accounting software packages.
  • Competent in both oral and written English language and strong proficiency in Khmer.
