Science Lab Technician (High School)
JOB PURPOSE
The Science Laboratory Technician works closely with the Head of Department, Science The role’s core purpose is to provide hands-on technical support for the teaching and learning of science-based subjects.
This includes preparing and maintaining laboratory resources, conducting appropriate risk assessments, and ensuring that all laboratory and science-related teaching activities comply with school policies and best practices.
The Science Laboratory Technician reports directly to the Head of Department, Science and is responsible for the following:
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set up, equip, and maintain school science laboratories in line with safety standards and best practices
- Source, purchase, store, and manage laboratory equipment, chemicals, and consumables
- Prepare materials, apparatus, chemicals, and experiments for practical lessons and demonstrations
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure all health and safety regulations are strictly followed
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory and preparation areas
- Carry out routine checks, basic repairs, and arrange servicing of laboratory equipment when required
- Monitor stock levels, maintain inventory records, and coordinate reordering with the Head of Science
- Support teaching staff with laboratory use, equipment handling, and safety guidance
- Assist with the care of laboratory plants, animals, and specimens where applicable
- Provide support to ICT teaching and learning activities, including classroom and student supervision
- Participate in school-wide events and carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
- English - Fluent
Work History:
- Diploma in a Science Discipline with laboratory experience for 2 to 3 years
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
- Applicants should have good interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Experience in managing school laboratory is an advantage.

- Proficiency in both spoken and written English
- Ability to communicate in other languages, such as Khmer
