Food for the Hungry is an International Christian Humanitarian Organization ending all forms of human poverty by providing life-changing development programs, disaster relief, and advocacy. In 1990, Food for the Hungry (FH) began working in Cambodia by providing relief and aid to those living in refugee camps during the civil war. In 1992, FH Cambodia started to partner with poor communities in the Kampot Province to improve living conditions, and later expanded into northern Cambodia. Since then, it has focused efforts on community development and other areas of need to improve living conditions.

Food for the hungry Cambodia is seeking for One (01) qualified Cambodian candidate to fill in the position of Saving Facilitator

Saving Facilitator (1 Position)

Position Summary

Location: Based in Trapeang Prasat District, Oddar Meanchey Province.

The Purpose of Position:

To effectively implement field-level training and capacity building activities for saving group which support by saving as a group and individual members can rely on other members for help in time of need.

Language: Proficiency in Khmer Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Key result#1: Project development, implementation and coordination
  • Facilitate formation and ongoing capacity building of new and existing community organizations for sustainable development on saving group.
  • Work closely with Area Program Manager (APM) and saving Sector Coordinators and have good unity in team on planning and reporting.
  • Work closely and have good relationship with community leaders (Local Authority, VDC).
  • Conduct regularly home visit to monitor and coaching savings group leaders to fill-out their Savings Books.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with community participants and local authorities and other local organizations such as churches, CBOs, NGOs, etc.
  • Build close relationships and actively learn within partner communities, through home visits, evening visit and special weekend visit with host families, attending community social events, etc.
  • Facilitate sharing lesson learnt among Community Saving and Loan Groups.
  • Promote communities to share and learn from their own experiences as part of confidence and capacity building.
  • Key Result #2: Budget planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • Raise awareness and facilitate critical analysis of community issues and opportunities for saving group.
  • Facilitate the community to define monitoring process and indicators for mutual learning and accountability with FH Cambodia in project implementation and capacity building.
  • Facilitate visioning and planning processes with community people and within community saving groups.
  • Mobilize local resources, community planning, participation, and ownership for development initiatives.
  • Key Result #3: Staff Management, Development and Security
  • Submit monthly report work plan and monthly material request to the Area Program Manager in agreed schedules.
  • Increase self-development for task performance through training, experience shared, exposure visit, learn from mistakes etc.
  • Endure smooth handing over of the self-ownership of Community Saving and Loan Group in target area.
  • Identify and train village agents for replicating Community Saving and Loan Group in the community.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the supervisor
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience working with rural development activities or similar position that related work developing.
  • Strong commitment to see behavior changed happening in the whole community on WASH development.
  • Good oral and written communication skills both Khmer & English language.
  • Openness and creativity and showing a respect for and willingness to learn from community and FH Cambodia.
  • Knowledge of computer skill with Microsoft Office
  • Facilitation, training, and coaching skills.
  • Flexible and good at as Team work.
  • Strong commitment and willing to work & traveling in the rural remote area.
  • Strong communication skill, community mobilization and professional experience in community saving.

  • Education Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree of Accounting, Finance or Banking a relevant field preferred and
  • Experience working in community in micro finance is preferred.
  • Supervisor Responsibilities: This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
