Position Summary

Location: Work Remotely and Frequent Travel to Provinces. 

Remote Work: Available  

Contract Type: Freelance (with possibility of conversion to contract/permanent employment after Cambodia office establishment)  

Work Arrangement: Full-time, Flexible Working Hours (Monday – Friday) 

Reporting Line: Regional Manager, Asia cum Cambodia Country Head

Salary: Highly competitive based on work relevant work experience

Start Date: As soon as possible

Transportation: Work-related travel costs covered by company  

Core Working Hours: 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM (you can choose your 8 working hours)

Role Overview

We are hiring a Rice Trading Project Lead to support the development of our new rice sales business in Cambodia. As a key support member, you’ll work closely with the Regional Manager, Asia and HQ and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of field activities and administrative tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supply-Chain Mapping & Friction Discovery
  • Conduct rapid, ground-level field research to establish a practical understanding of the current Cambodian rice ecosystem.
  • Identify key operational bottlenecks within regional rice mills and smallholder farming communities (e.g., input costs, capacity constraints, yield economics, and logistical vulnerabilities).
  • Downstream Off-Take & End-Buyer Analysis
  • Analyze the commercial off-take landscape to clearly segment the target market.
  • Evaluate the strategic purchasing behavior of end-buyers, differentiating between premium, high-quality export-focused buyers and high-volume, cost-driven commoditized buyers.
  • Commercial Development & Sales
  • Rapidly translate market insights into commercial execution, minimizing time spent on analysis to accelerate active B2B sales.
  • Drive sales of pilot project rice and expand long-term commercial sales channels by building strong buyer relationships.
  • Promote and sell complementary agricultural inputs and by-products (e.g., biochar/wood vinegar) alongside rice sales to maximize customer account value.
  • Market Disruption & Agile PoC Framework Execution
  • Design, launch, and manage fast-paced, iterative Proofs of Concept (PoCs) to test disruptive business models, supply mechanics, and value-add technologies.
  • Synthesize complex field data into concise, executive-level strategic updates for the investment committee to drive agile decision-making.

Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • English - Good
  • Khmer - Fluent
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies, Agriculture, Business, or related fields.
Work History:
  • Rice trading, agribusiness, supply chain logistics, or agritech for 5 years as a minimum
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Fluent in Khmer, with strong proficiency in Business English for meetings, reporting, and documentation.
  • Strong network and established relationships within Cambodia’s rice and agricultural sector.
  • Strong interest in sustainability and agriculture.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and methodologies.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Open to frequent travel to Battambang and other provinces.
Soft Skills
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and work with diverse teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
