Position Summary

Reports to: Residential Supervisor/Manager - AUPP Liger Leadership Academy

Start date: 1 August 2025 Schedule: Monday to Friday

Job Description

The role of the RE is expansive, as it assumes the role of “parent” whilst the children are under our care at AUPP Liger Leadership Academy. This includes catering to the practical, physical and emotional needs of the children, as well as supporting their educational needs, under instruction from, and in alignment with, the Education Department at the Academy. Children model behavior, so we expect the RE to be a good role model and adhere to the Academy’s values, which are: Integrity, Stewardship, Determination, Ingenuity, Optimism, and Appreciation. Corporal punishment is forbidden and will result in instant dismissal.

The duties are mainly after school hours, including sleeping in the houses during the week and working every 3rd weekend.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Work responsibility overview
  • Deal with all children’s problems.
  • Create a homely environment (caring, nurturing, inclusive).
  • Assist students with educational work where appropriate
  • Help foster good relationships between children
  • Engage with children (from 5pm, be with children, not alone in your room)
  • Participate in Professional Development from time to time (for example, first aid training)
  • Work Hours
  • Respect the time in/out of work
  • Monday 3:30pm arrive at Liger
  • 4pm RE team meeting and debrief with the RE Supervisor
  • Tuesday and Thursday - (9:30am- 4:30pm off duty) This may at times need to be flexible
  • Wednesday on duty all day. Students have ASE activities half day and free time half day. RE is responsible to know where her children are during the day
  • Friday - Every 2 out of 3 weeks, work finishes on Friday morning at 10am and begins the following week on Monday at 3:30pm. On a rotation basis, every 3rd week, 2 REs will be rostered on to work the weekend. The rostered REs are off duty on Friday from 9:30am - 4:30pm. One weekend rostered RE will have to be on the bus on Friday after school to return the students home and one will join the bus on Monday morning to bring the weekly boarders to school. The REs who worked the weekend are off duty from 9am on Monday until 4pm when they will join the weekly RE meeting.
  • Home cleaning
  • Keep all areas of the house clean.
  • Teach the children how to clean their home
  • Follow up on children’s home cleaning every morning
  • Check home tidy in the evening
  • Ensure proper hygiene is followed by all children
  • Final home cleaning after children leave for classes
  • Medical care
  • Daily medical report to nurse at 8:30am
  • Report to the nurse and RE Supervisor any concerns about a child’s health care, hygiene
  • Only provide medication to a child as approved and instructed
  • Bring first aid supplies to the nurse for checking every Friday by 8:30am - return 4:00pm
  • Meal time
  • Attend, on time, meal times in the dining room with the children
  • Monitor the children’s eating habits
  • Support children in developing good nutritional habits
  • General Hygiene
  • Provide personal hygiene care and advice, including menstruation
  • Laundry - support students in maintaining high standard of hygiene (clothing and bedding)
  • Home Supplies and Maintenance
  • Ensure home supply stocks are adequate (shampoo, soap, toilet paper etc)
  • Keep an inventory book of all supplies received
  • Report any maintenance issues (leaking taps, broken door handle or toilet etc)
  • Other tasks may be assigned as necessary according to the organization’s needs.
