Residential Educator
The role of the Residential Educator is expansive, as it assumes the role of “parent” whilst the children are under our care at LLA. This includes catering to the practical, physical and emotional needs of the children, as well as supporting their educational needs, under instruction from, and in alignment with, the Education Department at LLA.
In alignment with the role as a “parent” for our students at LLA, Residential Educators will be expected to be on duty all weekend but consider Monday - Friday from 10.30am - 3.30pm as their own time and they are free to leave the campus to pursue personal business, unless otherwise reasonably requested by the employer.
- Deal with all children’s problems.
- Spend quality time with the children.
- Help create and maintain a caring home environment.
- Always act in a maternal way
- Assist children with homework and any other educational help as appropriate
- Build good trusting communication with all children
- Help to establish and continue building good relationships between children
- Remain engaged with children at all times when on duty
- Other duties as required by the Residential Educator Supervisor
- Maintain a happy and clean house with the help of the children
- Produce weekend program for children
- QUALIFICATION:
- Preferable, university graduated majoring in social work, child care and/or
- Extensive experience in working with children in a home care environment
- ESSENTIAL SKILL
- Good English communication
- Excellent communication skill with children
- Strong commitment to child protection and child safety
- Reliable, dedicated and honest
- Able to work under pressure
- Preferable, good computer skills
