Announcement Description

The Ministry of Environment (MoE) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), are implementing a project “Building climate resilience of communities in Cambodia’s protected landscapes: biodiversity-friendly crop-livestock systems for adaptation (SCALE+)” with financial support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

The project will be implemented from 2026 through 2030 and aims to enhance the climate resilience of local communities, ecosystems, and livelihoods in Cambodia’s protected landscapes while aligning with biodiversity conservation goals. The project is expected to directly benefit 84,835 people (50% women) across community protected areas (CPAs) in Boeng Per and Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuaries. The project will also support land restoration and management over 92,300 hectares.

The project is structured into four mutually reinforcing components:

  • Component 1: strengthening the enabling environment to enhance climate adaptation and resilience of local communities in Cambodia’s protected landscapes;
  • Component 2: promoting resilient biodiversity-friendly crop-livestock production systems;
  • Component 3: strengthening and expanding sustainable livelihood options for men, women and youth; and
  • Component 4: setting-up effective frameworks for M&E, knowledge management, collaboration, dissemination and scale-up of innovative adaptation practices.
