The Women's Media Centre of Cambodia (WMC) established as a non-profit, non-governmental organization in January 1995 and officially registered with the Council of Ministers in the same year. Since its foundation, WMC has produced innovative high-quality radio, television and video productions in order to educate and inform Cambodians on a wide range of issues impacting on women’s rights and human rights, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, trafficking, elections, domestic violence, leadership, sexual assaults, drug abuse, rule of law, decentralization, poverty, Civil Society Dialogue and Public Awareness Raising, rape, land dispute/conflicts, etc.

WMC is independent and non-partisan. As a Cambodia Women’s Media Organization, it dedicated to improving the status of women in Cambodia and “Making Gender Equality Possible in Cambodia” (vision). Its mission is:

  • To use the media services to educate, lobby and increase awareness of women’s rights in Cambodian society;
  • To use the media services to empower women by providing evident-based information on socio-economic issues impacting their lives, and by giving them a voice on these issues;
  • To advocate for the positive portrayal of women in the public media, and to encourage and support women in media profession.

Radio Executive Producer

Position Summary

Contract type: 1-year contract with the possibility of extension.

Report to: Radio Production Supervisor

A Radio Executive Producer is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of radio program production projects to achieve their goals. Produce educational, informative, and entertaining programs, including special programs for women's radio, donor-supported content, partner organization features, marketing programs, and other radio productions. A Radio Executive Producer reports to and advises the Radio Production Supervisor and Project Coordinator on project progress.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Lead the team in meetings and discussions to determine the program’s message, format, and style, with reference to radio production, and provide suggestions for improving program quality.
  • Direct and produce programs, including phone-in talk shows, radio magazines, radio spots, radio dramas, sound design for video clips, reports, short news segments, interviews, life documentaries, teasers, trailers, and posters.
  • Supervise and provide feedback on official national programs and other special programs as assigned.
  • Participate in the production of entertainment programs, marketing programs.
  • Edit sound and install radio programs.
  • Design Poster & Upload to Facebook and the WMC website.
  • Review and verify all content before broadcasting or posting on social media.
  • Supervises radio technical teams such as radio programmers, radio operators, radio technicians.
  • Monitors and comments on production expenses of production team.
  • Studies about Vision, Mission and Core Values of WMC, to join management in developing WMC strategic goals for Women Radio.
  • Develops annual work plan and M&E framework for Women Radio and estimates resources to implement plan effectively addressing audience/client needs and contributing to WMC achievement.
  • Liaise with Radio Supervisor and Project Coordinator to prepare radio work plan every semester, and reviews and endorses quarterly, semester and annual Women Radio reports against plans, to be submit to Executive Director.
  • Studies in detail and comments to Executive Producers and team about project purpose and requirements, selection of target group and stakeholders for each project, activity work plan, and topic plan, to ensure effectiveness of projects implementation.
  • Cooperates with Marketing team to develop qualified commercial radio productions/programs to customers.
  • Communicates with partners and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as required by line manager or supervisor.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Media and Journalism, Social Studies, Law or similar field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Media & Journalism, Radio Production in Managerial role.
  • Working experience in gender issues is highly preferable.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Khmer.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
