Purchaser-Merchandiser

Role Summary
The Purchaser/Merchandiser plays a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless supply of raw materials, components, and packaging for eyewear and eyewear cases. This position requires balancing cost efficiency, quality standards, and timely procurement to support production schedules and customer requirements. The role also involves merchandise planning, supplier management, and coordination across several departments to maintain optimal stock levels and support new product developments.
- Procurement & Sourcing
- Source, negotiate, and purchase raw materials, parts, accessories, packaging and office supply required for eyewear and case manufacturing.
- Evaluate supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, lead time, and compliance with company standards.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability and long-term partnerships.
- Identify alternative suppliers to mitigate supply risks and reduce costs.
- Merchandise Planning & Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels of raw materials and finished goods to ensure availability while avoiding overstock or shortages.
- Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to align material availability with production schedules.
- Support the product development team with sourcing of new materials, colors, and designs for eyewear and cases.
- Conduct market research to stay updated on trends, pricing, and innovations in eyewear materials and packaging.
- Cost & Compliance Management
- Negotiate contracts and purchase agreements to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
- Calculate consumption for new items/orders and arrange corresponding BOM (Bill of Materials) for quotations and order purposes.
- Create cutting plans for production on several raw materials.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, Cambodia labor law, and international trade regulations.
- Monitor and report on cost trends for key materials such as acetate, metals, hinges, lenses, and case fabrics.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with production, quality assurance, R&D, and logistics teams to support smooth operations.
- Collaborate with finance on budgeting, payment terms, and cost analysis.
- Provide regular reports to management on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and market updates.
- Create barcode labels/stickers as per customer requirements for shipping purposes.
- Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or merchandising (experience in manufacturing, eyewear, or fashion accessories preferred).
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of supply chain management, import/export processes, and inventory control.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
- Fluency in English and Khmer (Chinese is a plus, given supplier networks).
