Position Summary

Sombok Psychology is looking to expand its team and recruit a Cambodian National for a full-time role as a psychologist. This is a great opportunity to further develop your skills and experience within a supportive, engaged, and experienced team. All team members are offered regular supervision as part of their role, meeting regularly as a team for peer supervision and professional development. 

This role primarily involves the provision of therapy services to a wide range of clients (children, adolescents, adults, families, couples) from diverse cultural backgrounds (expatriate and Cambodian clients). The role also involves providing training on mental health topics to a range of schools and organizations. This is a full-time position with working days from Tuesday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conducting mental health assessments for clients, making diagnoses when appropriate, and developing tailored treatment plans
  • Providing evidence-based psychological therapies and interventions to individuals and groups, including children, young people, and families
  • Completing electronic client notes and reports
  • Writing letters to other health professionals and external agencies to assist the client in accessing other services and support
  • Coordinate care with other providers (e.g., psychiatrists, doctors, social workers, teachers) to ensure holistic and consistent support.
  • Advocate for the client’s needs across systems (health, education, workplace, community).
  • Preparing for, and attending, clinical supervision sessions and team meetings
  • Monitoring client progress through regular feedback and outcome measures
  • Develop and deliver training on mental health topics (e.g., stress, anxiety, trauma, wellbeing, self-care) tailored to the audience’s needs.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethics, including confidentiality and adherence to the scope of practice.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in mental health research and training methods.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • Khmer - Fluent
  • English - Fluent
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Mental Health Counselling or Clinical Psychology
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Experience in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
  • Proficient in computer skills, particularly using Microsoft programs
  • Advanced spoken and written English and Khmer language
Soft Skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop as a mental health professional
  • Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-cultural team
  • Good observational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, empathy, and sensitivity when dealing with clients
