The Cambodian Rural Development Team (CRDT) is a unique local community development NGO established in 2001. We undertake community development and natural resource management projects throughout the Northeast of Cambodia, with a joint vision of poverty alleviation in support of environmental conservation. Our team has strong technical expertise and experience in community empowerment, environmentally appropriate agricultural development, income generation, water & sanitation, environmental education and waste management, and climate change. We also stimulate sustainable local economic development through our social enterprise, CRDT Tours Co.,LTD, which focuses on ecotourism services and agriculture businesses. Currently, we are working in Kampot, Mondulkiri, Kratie, and Stung Treng provinces, to improve the livelihoods of local communities while protecting the environment.

Project Manager (1 Position) Apply Now

Position Purpose: The Project Manager plays a crucial role to undertake our mission. He/she is responsible for project management including project design, proposal development, project planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities within the target areas, with the direct support of the Technical Management Officer (TMO). This role directly contributes to our efforts in poverty alleviation and environmental conservation, making it a meaningful and impactful position.

Reports to: Livelihood Program Coordinator

Duties
  • CRDT Level Involvement
  • Liaise with the CRDT Livelihood Program Coordinator (LPC) on a regular basis with regards to the project’s implementation and development of project implementation strategies.
  • Liaise with relevant government agencies and staff, Commune Council members, Village Development Committees, local and international NGOs and other stakeholders involved with the project.
  • Conduct meetings (at least two times a month) with project teams to ensure project implementation is smooth and on track.
  • Join senior staff monthly meetings headed by LPC and report all important issues and ensure those problems will be timely addressed.
  • Help to develop new funding proposals (concept note, budget proposal, activity work plan, and full proposal).
  • Involve with other projects as the technical support related to Dynamic Producer Groups/Self-help group or saving group (SHGs), Agriculture Cooperative (ACs), Agriculture and Livestock.
  • Any other duties as requested by the LPC and Management Team.
  • Project Level Involvement
  • Ensure the effectiveness of activity implementation and that project objectives are to meet with the targets.
  • Develop and implement project monitoring and ensure data is collected and correctly stored by monthly, quarterly, annually in the right order.
  • Manage project finances by consult with LPC (internal budget control, support to review the financial report, prepare budget forecasting/Cashflow).
  • Design project intervention plans and establish community-based organizations (CBOs) such as producer groups, saving or self-help groups, clusters, and Agriculture Cooperatives (ACs).
  • Prepare monthly budgets and work plans, make budget advances, and settlements
  • Supervise field staff, monitor project progress and budget
  • Provide leadership, day-to-day support, coordination and mentoring to teams of project officers and field officers
  • Assist the project team in beneficiary selection/beneficiary support/ beneficiary training if necessary.
  • Ensure the project team submits the monthly activity report on time, and finalize or edit it before submitting to head office.
  • Work closing with LPC and support the project team for market development to support the community.
  • Prepare and write project reports (Quarterly/milestone, interim/six-monthly, annual, and final reports), and support management on compiling case studies in special reports to donor as required
  • Facilitate donor and stakeholders field visits.
  • Prepare and lead workshops to build capacity of other relevant stakeholders (Beneficiaries, NGOs, Government) when necessary.
  • Able to travel to Phnom Penh or other provinces as work demands.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or similar degree in agriculture, rural development, environment or social science.
  • Experience in project management at least three years.
  • Experience in writing reports; project monitoring and evaluation (M&E) report, case studies, etc.
  • Experience in leading teams, facilitation skills, training skills, organizing and managing meetings.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Able to drive a motorbike and stay overnight in communities.
  • Willingness to live and work in the remote areas.
  • Proactive and learning quickly.
  • English and Khmer languages, both spoken and written.
  • Computer skills (MS. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email…)
  • Must follow CRDT policy for child safeguarding.

Position Purpose: The Team Leader is responsible for project management, budget monitoring, reporting and coordination, with the direct support of Technical Management Officer (TMO).

Reports to: Technical Management Officer (TMO).

Duties
  • Familiarize yourself with CRDT Policies, CRDT Development Projects, and the project villages CRDT works with.
  • Lead the project team in preparing and conducting village meetings/training, including preparing the meeting/training materials, preparing the agenda and attendee list, and writing minute meetings and/or reports.
  • Establishing farmer groups following the CRDT implementation strategy and selecting beneficiaries for the project by coordinating with the Team Leader.
  • Assist and provide training on agriculture technical issues (rice production) to farmers/producer farmers using the manuals provided by the (TMO).
  • Conduct project monitoring by interviewing questionnaires as required by CRDT (TNA, feasibility study, baseline, end-line survey…. etc.).
  • Provide technical assistance to beneficiaries in the implementation where necessary and ensure that all hot issues are reported to the line managers and (TMO) to find solutions on time.
  • Educate the community farmers about climate change, protecting the environment, waste management, and natural resource management through all activities implemented.
  • Strengthen the internal control system (ICS) members’ capacity for inspection work and manage the whole process of the compliance system.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator (PC) and (TMO) in developing the marketing and promotion strategy to link farmers to potential buyers and input suppliers inside and outside the district/province and the social media (radio broadcast, Facebook, TV broadcast, etc.)
  • Lead the project team in installing, operating, and managing rice milling machine.
  • An awareness-raising workshop at the village level about endangered species and the habitat's existing project target, the relevant law, and to promote the recruitment of bird nest protectors.
  • Follow up and provide additional coaching at individual household practice in special farming diary recording, technical application, implementation of the agreed production plan, etc
  • Appropriately interact with community members and local authorities (villager chief, commune, and district).
  • Attend meetings and/or training organized by local partners or other NGOs as required.
  • Prepare monthly reports, work plans, and budget plans

Duties
  • Familiarize yourself with CRDT Policies, CRDT Development Projects, and the project villages CRDT works with.
  • Organize the project's pre-implementation work related to the village assessment, need assessment, baseline survey, project launching, and beneficiary selection…
  • Organize the project events such as meetings, training, and campaigns.
  • Prepare the meetings, training workshops, study tours, and other events. All materials and handouts before the events are conducted.
  • Facilitate during training or meetings as an input to lead the meeting successfully and effectively.
  • Prepare meeting minutes or training report
  • Prepare budget advance, settlement, and budget tracking regularly
  • Interact and inform the stakeholders or beneficiaries about the project activities and event organizing.
  • Record and hold all action plans that participants make during training or meetings to practice with each other.
  • Follow up and provide additional coaching to households based on their action plans, which are recorded and held. Then, producer group data will be collected regularly and submitted to the project officer.
  • Make sure all hot issues are reported to project manager/team leader so that they can be solved on time.
  • Follow up the farmer groups’ meetings monthly to ensure they’re well-functioning to follow their by-law and regulations.
  • Assist project manager/ team leader in preparing monthly reports, work plans, and budget plans.
  • Prepare the monthly output monitoring sheet
  • Assist project manager/team leader in collecting data and information to write case studies and stories.
  • Support and motivate beneficiaries to engage to complete project activities.
  • Assist in implementing activities under the direction of the project/manager/team leader, in cooperation with other CRDT Field Staff.
  • Interact and build good relationships with community members and local authorities (villager chief, commune, and district) appropriately.

Requirements
  • University degree or similar degree in rural development, Social Science, Rural Sociology, agronomy, and livestock
  • Experience at least two years of working with the youths and community, especially in life skills, leadership, youth peer sessions, etc.
  • Experience at least two years of working with stakeholders in the CIP and CDP engagement process and granting to commune youth groups to implement their micro-grant project.
  • Able to drive a motorbike and be willing to travel on rough terrain for this field-based position, particularly when traveling by boat (requirement).
  • English skills are at a reasonable level.
  • Willingness to live and work in remote rural areas
  • Basic computer skills (Ms. Word, Ms. Excel, Ms. PowerPoint, Email)
  • Must be familiar with the Child Safeguarding and PSEAH policy of the organization
  • Must be familiar with forest and wildlife conservation efforts (not eat and trade the timber and wildlife meat).
