Project Intern (Economic Growth)
Internship Objectives
The Asia Foundation Cambodia is seeking an intern to support the implementation of a new initiative focused on strengthening tourism MSMEs in Cambodia. The intern will assist the Director, Strategy and Development, and the project team in overall project implementation, stakeholder and partner engagement, communications, administrative tasks, and logistics.

- Practical experience in project implementation and stakeholder engagement.
- Exposure to development programming focused on MSMEs and financial inclusion, digital literacy, and business management.
- Skill development in communications, event planning, and data management.
- Experience working in a multicultural team and international development environment.
Cash and Non-Cash Benefits

- Sick leave: 6 days total [per 6-month length of internship program]
- Holidays: align with the Office’s Public holidays
- Vacation leave: 1.25 days per month or 7.5 days in total of length of the internship
- Unpaid leave will be applied: If the intern has not accumulated enough leave, her/his stipend will be deducted based on the hours spent on unpaid leave.
- Stipend Allowance: USD 300 for a monthly stipend (for full-time)
Commitment and Working Hours
This is a 6-month full-time internship. You will be expected to be present five days weekly (Monday to Friday). [Full-time, 37.5 hours per week]
Travel
The internship will be based in the Phnom Penh office. All travel costs associated with any assignment to the provinces will be paid by The Asia Foundation.
- The intern will assist the team to:
- Support weekly team meetings and take notes.
- Assist in preparing slide decks and updates.
- Help organize and document meetings and events.
- Support outreach to participants, partners, and other project stakeholders.
- Assist in compiling lists and maintaining a database of information.
- Supporting drafting and formatting of communications materials as needed.
- Assist in maintaining the project’s calendar.
- Help coordinate logistics for meetings, workshops, and field visits.
- Support procurement and contracting documentation.
- Assist in some background research on tourism MSMEs.
- Support data collection and formatting for any research and survey work as needed.
- Provide administrative and operational support.
- Any other task as assigned relevant to the project, or the work of the Foundation in Cambodia or the region.
- The intern should meet the following criteria:
- Fourth-year university student or recent graduate in development studies, business, communications, or related fields.
- Strong interest in development work, especially in economic growth, or digital and financial literacy more specifically.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Canva or other design tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good command of English and Khmer.
