Position Summary

Work based: In the First Steps to Health for Mothers and Children (First-Health) based in Kamrieng, District, Battambang Province.

The Project Coordinator supports the Project Manager in the effective implementation, monitoring, and coordination of the First-Health Project. This position ensures that project activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with Samaritan’s Purse policies and standards. The Coordinator provides direct supervision to Field Officers, facilitates collaboration with partners and health center staff, and contributes to continuous learning and improvement of project implementation.

Contract type: Fixed/Specified Duration

Duration: 1 year (Renewable, subject to funding availability)

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Project Implementation and Coordination
  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, organizing, and coordinating all project activities to ensure effective and timely implementation.
  • Ensure all project activities remain on schedule, within scope, and within budget.
  • Work closely with the MEAL team to ensure successful design and implementation of the baseline survey and final evaluation.
  • Coordinate with Operational District (OD) staff, Provincial Health Department (PHD), and local authorities to strengthen collaboration and ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Support logistics, including the transportation and storage of project materials and equipment in project facilities.
  • Participate in project design, proposal writing, and budgeting under the guidance of the Project Manager.
  • Host and facilitate visits from IHQ teams, donors, and other external partners, ensuring effective coordination, preparation, and field-level support.
  • Spend at least 70% of the workdays in the field
  • Supervision and Team Management
  • Provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and on-the-job coaching to Field Officers to strengthen their performance and capacity.
  • Conduct regular field visits (at least twice per month) to monitor quality implementation, accountability, and community engagement.
  • Lead weekly team meetings to review progress, discuss challenges, and track key performance indicators.
  • Facilitate monthly reflection and learning sessions with the project team to capture lessons learned and improve program quality.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support professional development plans for Field Officers.
  • Ensure each Field Officer submits one monthly impact story with quality photos and a report.
  • Ensure staff adhere to Samaritan’s Purse safeguarding, security, and operational policies at all times.
  • Reporting and Documentation
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing and reviewing Semi-Annual and Annual Reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission to IHQ and donors.
  • Support the Project Manager in proposal writing, preparation of concept notes, and other project updates as required.
  • Prepare monthly project reports using information provided by Field Officers and ensure timely submission to the Project Manager.
  • Prepare and submit Quarterly Reports to the Operational District (OD), Provincial Health Department (PHD), Ministry of Health (MoH) and District/Provincial Governors, ensuring accuracy, proper formatting, and timely delivery.
  • Maintain a well-organized and easily accessible filing system in the project office (both hard and soft copies).
  • Support the preparation of presentations, success stories, and documentation for meetings, donor visits, and evaluations.
  • Finance and Administration
  • Ensure that Field Expense Reports (FERs) are completed accurately and submitted to the Project Manager for approval on time.
  • Ensure that cash advance requests are submitted promptly and aligned with project activity plans.
  • Ensure that Purchase Requests (PRs) are raised ahead of schedule and submitted to the procurement team in a timely manner.
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure financial accountability and adherence to budget limits.
  • Partnership and Church Engagement
  • Conduct regular visits to home churches and small cell group leaders to strengthen relationships and spiritual partnerships with Samaritan’s Purse.
  • Asset and Safety Management
  • Ensure that all SP vehicles and motorbikes are used responsibly, locked when not in use, and kept safe from theft or damage.
  • Ensure the First Aid Kit is available in the SP truck and that necessary tools and spare parts are maintained in good condition.
  • Other Duties
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Project Manager to support overall project success.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • English - Good
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health
  • Bachelor's Degree in Community Development, or related field
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project coordination or community health programming.
  • Strong supervisory, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with local authorities, health partners, and communities.
  • Good command of English (reading, writing, and speaking) is required.
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
